It has been raining for two weeks in a row. Squall sat by the window and looked out sadly. Normally Rinoa would be standing by the window across the street and faxing him and smiling at him. He loved this evening ritual, but she hadn't appeared at the window for two weeks. Actually, she wasn't home any more evenings. He only saw her in school and not even then her face.
It was that one full moon night two weeks ago that destroyed Rinoa's life. Rinoa and Yuna had been out at night. They wanted to go to the lake and admire the full moon. It was an accident.
Both walked along the street and talked until a drunk man came towards them. Rinoa and Yuna got scared and just wanted to pass him, but he stopped them. The man didn't want to let her go. An argument broke out and suddenly the man pushed Yuna into the street. At this very moment a car can turn the corner. He drove way too fast and you could only hear Rinoa's pleading no and the merciless crash of the car on Yuna.Squall cursed that day. Up to this day Rinoa was always a happy girl who laughed a lot and loved to laugh.
He made up his mind so it couldn't go on. She has to find fun in life again. He got up hastily and didn't even bother to put on his jacket but ran out into the street. He looked around searching. “Where are you Rinoa?” Pleading, he ran through the streets. His clothes were soaked through when he saw the entrance to the cemetery. Images of Yuna's funeral flashed through his mind. How Rinoa stood next to her brother and her black hair covered her face. He saw the tears glimmer through and wiped his own away. Irvine, her brother came to him. Squall could literally hear his voice in his head as he stood in front of the gate. That pleading tone when he said: >> Help her! Please, only you can help her! << He had nodded to Irvine, although he wasn't sure if he really could.Squall knew now. Only he could help Rinoa. >> Hopefully it's not too late. << he pleaded. He ran through the cemetery as fast as he could. Every breath burned his lungs when he finally got to Yuna's grave. He stopped in the curve. There she sat. On the ground in front of the grave. Her body was almost completely covered by her hair that ended around her on the floor.
The sight brought tears to Squall's eyes. He loved her and couldn't bear to see her sinking into grief. Rinoa blamed herself for Yuna's death, although she couldn't help it. It was destiny. And a destiny cannot be changed. She looked up. For the first time in two weeks, Squall saw Rinoa's face. The face that had always been happy. But her eyes didn't smile at him. They were completely empty, apart from the endless sadness that was reflected in them. It looked at her pleadingly, but tears ran down her cheeks. Squall went to her and hugged her. There was no reaction from Rinoa.
She was like a soulless shell in his arms. He took her shoulders and wanted to look into her eyes, but she looked at the floor. >> Please Rinoa, at least look at me! << Squall pleaded. She looked at him. He wanted to say something to her but the sadness in her eyes constricted his throat. Squall swallowed hard. >> Rinoa please ... Yuna's accident is sad but ... <<, he paused and a tear ran down his cheek >> I love you Rinoa and I want you to laugh again. I can't stand the sight of you sinking into your grief. It breaks my heart to see how you blame Yuna's accident. You haven't spoken a word in two weeks. Please Rinoa, talk to me. I want to be with you and I want you to be happy again! << She looked at him. The sadness in her eyes increased and she let it run free. She began to cry uncontrollably and slumped.Squall didn't know what to do. The sight of his beloved, how she wept and sank into her broken world, broke his heart. It hurts. What indescribable pain she had to have to fall like this. He couldn't imagine. Nobody can imagine such a thing. When she finally looked at him again, there was more than just sadness in her gaze. There was something else. He recognized it immediately. There was a pleading in her gaze. But after what? Rinoa begged him. Squall saw the strain on her speaking. She wanted to say something to him and still prefer to be silent. Again she looked at the floor. >> II can't squall. << Bred them out quietly and then looked at him with blank eyes. All feeling was gone from it. Only such cold remained that Squall winced. He looked at her in disbelief. >> But ... << he stuttered and desperately searched for words to convince her. To ease her conscience and make her happy again.>> No Squall! << Now there was icy cold even in her voice. Squall barely took her words. He had never seen her like that before. >> It's too late ... << she continued undeterred, >> I will never be able to laugh or be happy again. I am very much to blame for Yunas dead and I don't want to live like that. My world is destroyed even if my heart still feels love. Love for you Yes I do. I love you Squall, but I don't deserve it. Yuna was not allowed to be reunited with her lover. I won't either. Goodbye << With these last words she got up and left the internally shattered Squall behind. >> You will survive it ... <<
