Another World

Chapter 1

Hi! ^^
This is my first FF! ^^
But that has everything to do with the topic of Eragon! ^^
I'm always happy about clerks! ^^
Have fun reading .. ^^

I had been to Bullridge for 11 years now and nothing had changed. It was the same every day, getting up, cooking, serving guests in the inn and washing the dishes. But I wanted to get away from here, every morning I thought about it
`why don't you go away, nothing is holding you here anymore. Why did I stay here at all? But if I just walked out like that, my uncle Hedrick would be mad at me. No, I can't stay here any longer, it's nice here, but not exciting enough. Better to talk to Hedrick about it, not that it ends in an argument. ยด Groaning, I got up from my bed. I opened the door very slowly and went to the stairs. Just before I went downstairs, I stopped because I heard voices. They spoke very softly. But I still understood her. One voice was Hedrick's.He was the first to speak:
"I don't want to and can't forcibly marry Miriam. She's only 15. She should look for a man she trusts herself."
"But what do you do when she leaves? You can't run the inn on your own. Well, this Susanne is still there, but she'll only break your dishes! And then you're sitting on a mountain full of debts. Believe me, my friend, marry her off to a rich man and let her run the inn! "
The second person was Naid. He was a proud baker and had his bakery only a few streets away.
I couldn't believe I was going to be forced into marriage. I thought, 'Just about my corpse'. The likely forced marriage was just one more reason to leave.
"Then I'll let them! And I'm looking for new helpers for the inn so that they can help me out."
Suddenly I heard footsteps. But the steps did not come from below, but were on the floor where I was. I quickly jumped around a corner and looked out into the corridor.Susanne had woken up. Her brown hair hung on her face. When she saw me, she was about to say something, but I sprinted to her and then covered her mouth and walked with her to the stairs so that I could continue overhearing Naid and Hedrick. But to my disappointment, they ended their conversation.
Slowly I let my hand slip from Susi's mouth and went into my room. With a movement of my head, I showed her that she should come in too. She shuffled in and sat down on the nearest chair.
"Shit!" I muttered.
"What's going on?" Asked Suzy, still asleep drunk.
"Naid tried to persuade Hedrick to marry me Zwans. At the beginning he refused. But then I couldn't hear any more because you came!"
"Hey, don't blame me, I couldn't have known that you were on an eavesdropping mission! But what do you want to do now, I mean because of the marriage?" She wanted to know.
With a matter of course in my voice I said: "I'm going away! And if you want to come with me then do it, but don't dissuade me. "
"I wasn't planning to do that either!"
We discussed briefly that I should let Hedrick know that evening. And then we would leave Bullridge tomorrow.

The rest of the day nothing special happened, everything was the same as always. Many guests came and a lot was ordered. In between, Susi kept asking me if I really wanted to do that. Each time I responded with a nod. But sometimes I wondered if it wasn't wrong to leave Hedrick alone. I wasn't my father, but he raised me. I lived here since I was 4 years old. Hedrick had never hit me or hurt me, he was always kind to me. But unfortunately, he was so easily influenced.

At dinner, the time had come. Bored, I poked around in my mashed potatoes and tried to cover my peas with it. Suddenly Susi poked me in the ribs with her elbow. When I looked at Susi she made a head movement that could only mean: "Tell him!"So far, nobody at the table had said anything.
Hedrick looked at his plate and ate in silence. His brown, already slightly roughened hair hung on his face.
At first I didn't dare to say anything, but then I gathered up all my courage and began to speak:
"I heard you and Naid talk about me and getting married this morning."
"I'll leave it up to you if you decide, I don't want to force you to do something you don't want." He put the fork down. "But should you plan to go. Go on! I can't let you stay here all the time anyway!"
He looked at me. At that moment I believed Hedrick could read my mind; I expected him to be a little sad, but instead, he grinned widely.
"That's exactly what I wanted to talk to you about. I'm leaving Bullridge with Susi tomorrow morning!" Hedrick said nothing more, he just sat there and grinned because he had hurried ahead of me and could read my mind. Now I no longer had a bad conscience. When we had finished eating, I quickly packed my things and went to my bed, because I was so exhausted after the conversation that I fell victim to the exhaustion sleep that immediately set in.

When I woke up I realized it was the last time
that I would wake up in Bullridge, for a few months anyway. Then I got up and got dressed.
And finally went downstairs, where Hedrick and the cook were already setting the table. Hedrick was very happy because he was singing a song I didn't know. It was all too much for me, so I went into the stable. There stood the two horses Zorro and Argetina.
Zorro was a black stallion, instead Argetina was a gray. Then I groomed both of them. I did that very well because I didn't want to let it show me that I was also very excited. Suddenly I was called in the house. I went in with quick steps.Susi was already sitting at the table. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail. Meanwhile my dark blonde hair danced around on my face.
I sat down next to Susi in silence.

When we had finished breakfast, the cook brought our provisions. Hedrick finally said to me:
"So Miriam, I have a surprise for you. Close your eyes!"
Just as he told me to, I closed my eyes, then Hedrick pulled my hair back with something.
Then he said, "Now you can open your eyes again."
I opened my eyes to see a small mirror in front of me. I looked inside immediately.
My first look was that my hair looked better when it fell backwards. At second glance I also noticed why, I had a headband in my hair. It was completely black. I looked at Hedrick and thanked him.

Then I said goodbye to everyone and got on Argetina. In conclusion, Hedrick said:
"Take care of yourself and Susanne!" he paused for a moment, "I have to tell you something that I actually only wanted to tell you when you were going to celebrate your 18th birthday.I'll just tell you a little bit about the puzzle, the rest you have to solve yourself. So ... "he just continued very quietly" I'll tell you only one thing, your parents came from the woods! At some point you will surely solve the riddle! "
The first thing I thought was that Hedrick was hugging me, or at least he was smiling.
My gaze wandered over the inn one last time. Then I and Suzy rode out of Bullridge. I noticed that the headband came in very handy when riding.

When we were out of reach of Daret, I looked back at what I had experienced and then what the future would offer me. Then I noticed tears running down my face. I didn't look at Susi because I didn't want her to see my sadness.
But then I remembered the last sentence Hedrick had said to me. After many years he had told me something about my parents that I did not know. Because I was brought to my grandparents right after I was born.Just before they died, they took me to Hedrick's. Hadn't heard from them since. Where did they go? But I didn't care at that moment. Because the next question on my long journey was where do I want to go?
