The next day, Ran, Kogoro and Conan were already at the airport in Osaka at 10 o'clock. And Ai was there too. Conan had gone to the professor last night and told him and Ai Heiji's story. Ai was of course immediately nervous because she believed that the organization had now found her and Conan couldn't blame her. Finally he thought the same way. But he still didn't show anything. After easing Ai's worries a little, he said that he will meet Heiji the next day. Ai was of course immediately on fire and since Kogoro and Ran had nothing against it, she was allowed to come with us.
So the four stood at the airport and waited for Heiji.
"Tell me, didn't he want to pick us up here?" Asked Kogoro, annoyed.
"Actually yes. I'm surprised too.", Conan replied, although he knew exactly why Heiji was not there.
"Dad, we should take a taxi and drive to him. Maybe something came up with him.", Ran now intervened."That would look like him.", Kogoro grumbled quietly. Then the four of them went to a vacant taxi and got in. They gave the address and the driver drove off immediately.
While driving, Conan called Heiji.
"Yes?" Said Heiji
"It's me," Conan whispered. "I'm on my way to see you and have to speak softly so that Ran and Kogoro don't get suspicious. Did everything work out?"
"Well to some extent. It wasn't easy to convince my parents that they should take a little ...", he pronounced the word particularly contrite, "just take boys in like that."
"At least you made it," Conan said softly. "But I'll think of something to get you out of there. Just to be on the safe side, so that nobody really gets behind your identity."

Conan took the headphones out of his ear and looked at Ai.
"Are you sure your excuse is good?" He asked her.
"I guess so."

Fifteen minutes later they rang the Hattoris' doorbell. Heiji's mother opened the door and looked at her in surprise.
"Hello Ms. Hattori.", Kogoro greeted her. "Sorry for our unannounced appearance, ..."
"We wanted to go to the new amusement park with Heiji," Conan interrupted.
"I'm surprised. He called last night and said that he won't be there for the next few weeks. But come in first," said Shizuka.
"Thanks."
//Really great. This kid wants to meet us, but goes somewhere else the same day and leaves us here. // Kogoro thought annoyed.
As they stood in the hallway they met a little boy who looked very much like Heiji.
"Tomoaki!" Shouted Ai happily, ran up to him and hugged him.Tomoaki looked astonished, but then understood and played along.
"Ai, what are you doing here?" He asked surprised.
Ai was about to answer when Kogoro said: "I hate to disturb your reunion, but might the rest of us find out how you know each other?"
"Tomoaki is my stepbrother," replied Ai. "My father married his mother when I was three"
"Who's the little one?" Asked Shizuka
"Her name is Ai Haibara and she lives with an old man in our neighborhood.", Ran answered.
"And why weren't you together then?", Shizuka asked at Ai and Tomoaki continued to dress.
"I was with my grandmother. She died three days ago. I was supposed to go to a home but I didn't want to. I ran away.", Said Tomoaki.
"Ts ts ts. You don't do that, young man!" Shizuka scolded.
"WAAAAAAS ?? Grandma is dead? Oh no!" Weeping, Ai snuggled up to Tomoaki. This was visibly embarrassed and he tried to get Ai to let go of him.But with little success.

"Then why did you show up at Professor Agasa?" Asked Kogoro Ai.
"II ..." Ai started stuttering and sobbing.
"Professor Agasa is her great-uncle.", Conan came to her aid.
"Is that right?" Asked Kogoro
"Y-yes.", Ai was still sobbing. "He h-never told you because it was somehow p-embarrassing to him. II also n-don't know why. And I also w-don't know w-why I go to i-him had to and T-Tomoaki to Grandma. "
"Hmm ... strange story.", Said Kogoro
