New school - new luck ?! Probably not!
She stood panting in the doorway. The brown curls that reached her waist stood wild in all directions. She had tried desperately to overcome this hair disaster with a few clips but somehow she hadn't succeeded. The ribbon that came with her new school uniform was just loosely around her neck, not tied properly. Her blue eyes wandered around the room until she finally caught sight of the teacher.
"Um, I'm sorry. The bus was delayed." she apologized. She knew it sounded like a lazy excuse, which it actually was, but what should she have said?
'Sorry I didn't feel like getting up and got lost on the way here !?'
The teacher glared at her. Oh oh that wasn't good. It's good that she was one of the newcomers to this school, otherwise she should have been detained immediately. Of course, she heard that directly.
"That won't happen again, you understand? Just because you came here from Domino South doesn't mean you can do things like that here!"
Always these prejudices ...
She nodded silently.
"I hope you internalized that. It would be nice if you could briefly introduce yourself and then finally sit down so that I can continue with the class." the small, plump man pointed to the only free space in the entire room.
"Well, I'm Jelana Ito, 18 years old." she said. In a nutshell. You couldn't go wrong with that. Or is it? Her gaze caught on a boy who was sitting right in her field of vision.
/ The way he looks, I said something wrong / she thought a little nervously. His ice blue eyes seemed to pierce her. She quickly averted her eyes, nodded briefly indecisively around the group and hurriedly made her way to her new place. She was sitting in the back row, which was comforting. On the way there she heard whispers here and there. Oh how she cursed the guy who set her old school on fire. How did she deserve it?
The students at Domino High and Domino South have always been at war with each other. Why nobody knew, but apparently this hatred was inherited or something.
It's good that there were two girls from her old class here. She had never had much to do with them, nor did she care, but you had to stick together in times of need, right?Jelana timidly sat down in her new place. She had to muster a lot of courage, but she thought it was only fair to greet the person sitting next to her. "Hi," she muttered shyly.
The blonde girl next to her made a scornful noise and raised an eyebrow. Then she turned away from her.
Great. Couldn't she even be lucky and at least sit next to someone at this terrible school who sweetened her lessons? No! Of course not!
She sighed and decided to follow the lesson, she didn't want to stress the teacher any more. What kind of subject was that anyway? She looked at the board. Oh English. That was totally her subject. Well at least something. She would probably have jumped out the window if she had now also had math or physics.
The first lesson was soon over and they had a ten-minute break. Since they still had an hour of English after that, Jelana decided to stay in her seat. Her best friend, who was in one of the parallel classes, would be looking for her during one of the long breaks.
The girl next to her jumped up immediately after the school bell rang, so she was now sitting alone at the table. She was scribbling on her pad, lost in thought, that was better than seeing the piercing looks of the others.
Startled, she dropped the pen when suddenly someone sat down next to her. Her gaze wandered questioningly from the pen lying on the floor to the person who had apparently sat down with a lot of swing on the seat next to her. To her surprise, she looked into the face of a brown-haired boy. "Hey." he just said and grinned broadly at her. She smiled back a little perplexed. What did he want? Was he mocking her?
"Oh. Sorry. My name is Tristan." he said, embarrassed. He must have seen her skeptical look. Only now did she notice that there were a few other students standing behind him.
She wasn't sure what to say. She had never been talented at making friends or meeting other people. It just always took a little longer with her than with others.
"That's Yugi, Tea and Joey." said the boy now and it seemed as if he wanted to break the embarrassing silence that had emerged.
"Hi," Jelana began slowly while looking at each and every one of them. "You're not here to mock me, are you?" she just asked carefully. Her thoughts drifted to the girl she had just looked at with contempt.
The entire group in front of her looked at her puzzled. Was that such a stupid question?
"You mean about the dispute?" finally asked the blond boy who was standing behind Tristan. If she remembered correctly, it had to be Joey. He grinned broadly. "What nonsense. We're glad you're here. Then at least something is going on here." he waved it off.
Jelana nodded."Well, I thought you would all be like the person sitting next to me ...", she thought for a moment, "or the guy who is sitting in front. Woah, they look at it." added her.
"Maybe you should just ignore them," said the girl, which Tea must be. "That over there is Kaiba. That should tell you something. He's a bit ... arrogant." she said.
Kaiba .. Jelana thought hard. "Yeah, something tells me that. But what?" she asked herself more than the others. She was just remembering where she knew the name from when the bell rang and the teacher came back. The group quickly fled to their seats and the lessons continued.
She looked again at Tea, who gave her a smile when she saw her gaze. Maybe this wasn't as bad as she had initially thought.
After all, there were already four people here who seemed really nice and she could safely do without the others. Besides, she still had Sayu, her best friend.
The second English lesson seemed to pass faster than the first and when Jelana packed her bag, her four new classmates were standing around her again. "So if you want you can come with us. We wanted to go to the cafeteria." said one of the guys. He was pretty short for being her age. Damn it, but what was his name again?
"They have really delicious rolls!" she heard another voice now. Joey. She could remember that much. He was apparently quite hungry, because he tipped from one foot to the other and beamed over both ears when he put the word bun in his mouth.
"Yes, please. Do you mind if I take a friend with me? She was placed in the parallel class."
Everyone agreed, so they were about to step out into the corridor when suddenly a voice rang out behind them. Jelana winced slightly. A very decisive voice, but somehow she liked it. But when she turned around and saw who the voice belonged to, she didn't think it was that great anymore.
"Get out of the way" he said coolly and just pushed Joey and Tea aside to go through the door themselves.
Jelana raised an eyebrow. What was that? What did he think he was? Normally Jelana would have approached him, but it was still too early for that. She had a really big mouth, but when she wasn't settled in properly she was downright shy.
Even if she had wanted to - she wouldn't have had a say anyway, because the blond boy who slammed into the door frame during the action had stormed into the corridor and made a huge fuss. It almost reminded her of herself.
"You've got a bird! I think you're crazy ...:" He didn't seem to want to stop anymore, luckily Sayu showed up. Since she was coming from the direction in which Kaiba had just gone, she drew attention to herself and Joey came down a bit.Jelana and Sayu greeted each other briefly with a hug and you could literally see Jelana's self-confidence rise three levels.
When they finally got Joey into the cafeteria, who, when they met Kaiba again, had rushed towards him again, they sat down with their food at a large table.
"You are just as upset as Jelana. Only she is more stubborn. It would not have been so easy to drag her along." Sayu said to Joey. However, he was just busy shoving his own bread into himself so that he couldn't answer right away.
"Thank you!" said Jelana instead. "But he was right. This Kaiba is really an inflated ..." she paused when she saw her friend's look. "...Sheep?!" she said quickly.
Sayu had to laugh. She had long wanted to get Jelana off the swear words. In the meantime, one look was enough to keep her from using some, but since Jelana didn't just want to break off in the middle of a sentence, such sentences emerged and an asshole quickly became a sheep.
But suddenly Sayu frowned. "Wait a minute. Kaiba? THE Kaiba?" she asked her friend, who was just putting her bun in her mouth and just shrugged her shoulders.
"If you mean the idiot who runs the Kaiba Corporation and shows off like I don't know what - yes, that's him!" one heard Joey calling. Apparently he had already finished his bun.
Sayu's gaze wandered through the canteen - it seemed as if she was looking for someone or something. Suddenly she pointed to two boys who were sitting by the window and were throwing the salad that actually belonged on the rolls.
"They said he was going to have a tournament over the weekend. A Duel Monsters tournament." she remembered. The little boy, who later turned out to be Yugi, nodded.
"Yes, that's right. Joey and I are there too. It's only a little this time. Usually his tournaments are always very complex and last for a few weeks." he said.
So so, Duel Monsters. Jelana swallowed the last bite of her bun.
"I've never seen a full duel before." she said something in her mind, "That would be interesting."
She hadn't
