stroke of fate! - or simply betrayed by life?

Jelana lay on her bed and stared at the ceiling. With the headphones on, she chased loud rock through her ears.
She didn't feel like thinking about what had happened and music usually helped her distraction, but this time it didn't seem to work.
So it came down to her reviewing the day.
After Seto simply disappeared, Jelana turned back to Joey. She wanted to take him to the hospital, but he refused.
The few scratches wouldn't kill him, he'd said. She wanted to insist on at least accompanying him home and treating him, but he didn't want to.
Now, in retrospect, she noticed that he had panicked easily. Didn't he want her with him? Was he hiding something?
So many questions again.
She rolled onto her side and a loud sigh came from her lips. Her gaze was directed to the wall so she did not notice that someone entered her room, which was jet black.
Her thoughts just flew back to the one who had helped her the second time when someone touched her shoulder. Startled, she jumped up and at the same moment pulled the headphones from her head.
Her ears boomed. The music must have been a bit loud.
"It's just me." she heard a pitiful voice. She needed something before she could identify them.
"Aki ?! What's wrong?" she asked, somewhat confused, into the darkness. Her gaze wandered to her clock, which was on the bedside table right next to her bed and showed two o'clock at night.
"I can't sleep," muttered her little, plump brother. "Can I stay here?"
Jelana sighed. She knew that her older brother's behavior was very troubling for Aki.
With a jerk she threw back the covers and patted the bed beside her. Good thing it was quite big.
A wind crawled over her legs and she was glad when her brother lay down next to her in the bed and threw the blanket over himself. He slid close to her and she gently stroked his head.
"Do you think he's coming home tonight?" he asked in the silence.
Jelana thought for a moment what to answer.
"Sure, but you'd better go to sleep now. After all, you have to go back to school tomorrow"
She didn't believe that Takumi would be home, but she didn't want to worry her little brother. Surely it was enough for her to go mad with worry.
How was Seto doing? What did he do with her brother? Or had Takumi done something to him? She couldn't remember if he was hurt, too quickly he had pierced her with his angry looks and threw her ineptitude at her head.As her mind began to circle again, she heard her brother's breathing become calmer. Then he fell asleep.
She herself lay awake for hours and thought about what had happened and whether and how she could thank Seto. Even if she didn't want to admit it to herself - she was worried and wanted to know what had happened to him.
An hour before she had to get up, she finally fell into a restless sleep ...

With the ringing of the school bell, she reached the schoolyard, panting. Too late again - that was sure to cause trouble. But she was too tired to worry about it.
An hour's sleep was just not enough.
She took three steps at a time as she ran up the stairs that led to the classroom. Reluctantly she knocked on the door and opened it a crack.
"Sorry," she muttered. To her surprise, the teacher only nodded briefly and indicated that she should sit down quickly.
What was the matter with him? No lecture? Wow!
She quickly sat down next to Joey, who, for her love, had swapped places with the unfriendly woman sitting next to her. Apparently he had been treated after all. Maybe from his mother?
A plaster was stuck to his left cheek and a bandage was wrapped around his right arm.
"Are you doing well?" she asked uncertainly, as he was making such a first face again. Only now, when he looked directly at her, did she notice that he also had a black eye. She couldn't remember with the best will that he had it yesterday, too.
As if at the push of a button, a broad grin appeared on his face. "Yeah, all right. And with you? Did your brother show up?"
Jelana frowned briefly. Because she wasn't sure if everything was really okay with Joey, she slowly shook her head.
"No. I don't know where he's hanging around again." she whispered to him so as not to be caught by the teacher.
"Oh, he's showing up again. Surely he'll have to recover from the abrasion first." he said and his grin almost reached his ears.
He managed it again and again: Although until recently she didn't feel like it at all, Jelana had to grin too.
// Poor madman // she thought. She really worried about him yesterday. How could he just attack her brother like that? Sure, he wanted to protect her, but otherwise something could have happened to him.
Jelana had avoided looking at Seto the whole time, but she just couldn't help it. The person sitting next to you was already absorbed in a math problem, which surprised her very much - otherwise he didn't care about the subject either!
Her gaze wandered to his place. There he sat. Cool as always. He must have already finished the tasks. He did something like that with links. That's why he was sitting there with his arms crossed and staring out the window. She couldn't see his face that way, which annoyed her. She wanted to know if he was hurt. There were no bruises on the rest of his body. She swallowed. She couldn't see that through the school uniform, of course, but it struck her what kind of body he had.
For God's sake ! What was she thinking?
She quickly looked at her exercise sheet and tried to solve the problems.
In the end, however, it came down to her copying the solutions off at Joey. With the thoughts she had, she couldn't concentrate on math with the best will in the world, since this subject made her white-hot anyway.

The rest of the school day passed very quickly. That could be because a few hours were canceled because of some conference and they could leave early. As a result, however, they did not have particularly long breaks, which drastically reduced the chance of getting Seto.
In class he had always averted his eyes and she just hadn't got him to look at her and focus his attention on her.
So dejected, she dragged her school bag across the floor behind her until Joey took the bag from her. He was probably annoyed by the shuffling noise she had made.
Jelana didn't care about that at the moment. Just like the looks of her other friends.
With their consent, the blond had told them about what had happened the previous evening. Oh yes and how! That was his chance to brag about how much he had worked and "turned her brother into a pulp".
That Seto was the one who had probably saved his bum in the end, he swept under the carpet and commented on his appearance with only a "Wow, and then this snot appeared. He got on my nerves. If it hadn't been Takumi then given up easily. "
He didn't know her brother well ...
Another sigh came from her lips. "Man, don’t pull your face like that!" Joey growled beside her and punched her on the shoulder in a friendly way. Somehow it bothered him that she was in such a bad mood.
Bad mood was always very tricky with her. His luck that he hadn't felt that yet. The others were probably more sensitive and understood that they should leave them alone. That's exactly what she was about to click on Joey when two arms wrapped around her from behind and pulled her back a little. She already knew that, it could only be Sayu.
Slowly she turned around, with a look that would have scared every little child to death. Sayu was familiar with the look. "Oh, you're in a bad mood. I thought so. I heard about what happened yesterday. I'm so sorry." she babbled on.
Jelana thought she wouldn't stop talking, that was horrible! When Sayu finally finished, Jelana wrinkled her nose."Hm," she just said. What should she say? She didn't feel like repeating everything a thousand times.
"I go back home." she said quickly so that Sayu didn't even get the idea to continue talking. With a jerk she snatched her bag from Joey's hand and stomped off from the field.
Only after a few steps did she notice that she was alone now and she knew exactly that her thoughts would go crazy again.
She just damned wanted to know what happened to Seto. Furious, she kicked a garbage can, which overturned with a loud rumble when something appeared in her field of vision.
It was big and white and had wheels - a limousine. Well that was great. She gained new enthusiasm and after she had properly picked up the garbage can, she hurried to the limousine. Luckily, her friends were still in the school yard and the car was a bit to one side - that way nobody would interfere. Now Seto just had to come.
After waiting a few minutes, she nervously paced up and down in front of the monster car, which was more strenuous than expected, since the thing was its length. When she finally raised her eyes to see if he finally moved his astral butt, she saw a little boy. He was allowed to be about the same age as Aki, but was a bit shorter. His black hair stood wild in all directions and he stood right in front of her and eyed her critically.
What did the little one want?
"Um. Can I help you ???" she asked unkindly when the boy made no move to say anything.
"Yes you can. I would like to get on board!" he said, pointing, embarrassed, to the door of the limousine that was locking it.
Jelana looked first at the door and then back at the boy when she suddenly had a fit of laughter.
"You already know whose soda it is, don't you, kid? If you get in there, the guy will surely tear your hair out one by one." she said.
She actually trusted Seto to do that. He certainly made short work of that.
"Um, yes I know who owns the limousine and why should I ..." he paused.
"Hey brother" he called
