Chapter: Chapter 6 - Like in the bad movie

As in the bad movie

"I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT"
Those were the words she hissed at Seto Kaiba when he stood in front of the door of her apartment.
She probably didn't have to say much more to express her current thoughts and feelings.
"Tell me, are you doing this extra?" she snapped at him and at the same moment she wondered if he had known beforehand who he was entrusting his little brother to.
In any case, his expression betrayed nothing. Nothing at all. No surprise, no fuss, just nothing.
As cool as ever, his eyes studied the girl, who was still standing in the doorway, pale as chalk and stunned.
"Well, I imagine a nice greeting differently, but what did I expect from YOU?" he muttered and she could clearly hear the amusement in his voice.
Jelana's eyes formed into small slits. What did he take out of there?
She put on a smile that resembled the fake and exaggerated smile of a saleswoman who was supposed to sell a perfume, which greatly strained her gag reflex.
"Come on in Mokuba. Aki is in his room, second door on the right!"
Mokuba nodded, said goodbye to his brother and disappeared behind her into the apartment.
For a few seconds Seto and Jelana stood across from each other without doing or saying anything, but then suddenly he took a step towards them.
She thought her heart would stop. What was he up to?
Before she was tempted to give him a hearty slap, she understood that he wanted to go into the apartment.
In YOUR apartment.
She switched with lightning speed and before he knew it she had closed the apartment door so that only his foot, which stood between the door and the frame, held it open.
"And when are you going to pick up your brother again? I just mean so that I can prepare myself mentally for you to come back here again." she growled.
Strike!
Or not?
Seto left it all unimpressed and the amusement still hadn't disappeared from his face. What the hell did he want?
Whatever he wanted - he got it.
With one movement he had opened the door again, which Jelana had tried desperately to hold shut, and before she knew it he was standing next to her in the hallway.
With a snort, she slammed the door. "Ok, what do you want here? Play the babysitter? Believe me, I can do that quite well on my own!" she started. The fact that he apparently ignored her made her furious.
His gaze flew through the small apartment in which the four of them usually lived. It was lucky that her mother and Jelana had been busy cleaning and tidying up yesterday, otherwise a stupid saying would have come up.
But what was she imagining? Some disparaging remark would be made anyway, because he, Mister-I-Got-Everything-You-Got-Nothing, was definitely used to a higher standard of living.
"Since when do you live here?" he suddenly asked her.His voice sounded serious and the amusement was completely gone. She frowned.
She was still convinced that he was going to kill her.
"Always, why?" she asked unkindly about it.
He didn't answer. Damn it! Why didn't he answer? What was the matter with the guy? Was he completely nuts now?
She was about to ask more when he mumbled something. Really quiet.
"So you don't remember!"
That was what she understood. But it didn't make sense to her. Surely she had misheard.
"What? What did you say?"
When she wanted to examine him carefully, she noticed that he had passed her and was heading for the door.
"Hey wait." called her. He couldn't just leave her standing now. Why did he ask such strange questions?
With the words "I'll be back at seven to pick up Mokuba" he left the apartment and closed the door behind him.
Jelana was left alone and completely perplexed in the hallway.
"What kind of action was that?" she wondered softly. Now she really didn't understand anything.
Her perplexity made her angry.
She noticed that she was really angry a lot lately. At some point she would have another heart attack if it continued like this.
Annoyed, she kicked the door frame and was about to throw herself on the couch with a lot of momentum when the doorbell rang again. Did he forget something? Wasn't he trying to enlighten her?
A little awkwardly, she stumbled to the front door and opened it. In her mind she had already kept a few sayings warm, this time she wanted to be more quick-witted.
But when she saw that Seto wasn't standing in front of her, she caught her breath. Her older brother was standing in front of the door, and a policeman was to his right.
She didn't know what to say, she was too confused. In addition to the shock that overwhelmed her, she felt deep relief, because now she knew that her big brother was fine.
"Can you speak to your mother?" asked the policeman, a tall man with broad shoulders.
"Um, no she's working." she stammered.
"I picked him up under a bridge and I thought it was better to bring him over here."
Jelana was confused. Your brother was 19 and because he was strolling under a bridge a police officer took him home? Had he possibly done something else?
Only now did she look up and examine the policeman more closely. Now she understood.
"Mr. Yamada," she called out in relief. "Sorry, I didn't recognize you straight away. Thank you for bringing him over ... Did ... did he do anything else?"
Of course, why hadn't she recognized him right away? Her former neighbor was standing in front of her. He and her mother had often met for coffee in the past and were therefore close friends.
"Mh. He's certainly still up to something." Mr. Yamada began, but smiled as he did so.
"But since I didn't catch him doing it, we can't harm him.I guess he was lucky again. I thought it would be better to bring him home anyway. "
Jelana was close to tears.
"Thank you," she muttered.
Takumi passed her without saying a word, didn't say goodbye to the policeman.
"Do you think you can handle him alone?" the caring acquaintance asked again and when Jelana confirmed this with a nod, he said goodbye.
She closed the door and slowly turned around. Her big brother had passed her, but he was still standing in the hallway and was now looking at her. She couldn't read his gaze. Was that anger that was reflected there? It was as if she felt the blow he had given her in front of the bar again and she got a little scared. Was he drunk? He looked better than he did then, but what if she was wrong and he'd been on drugs or something? She had no chance against him. Great and something like that when Seto Kaiba's brother was visiting. Who wanted to annoy you again? Her life must have been hilarious.
It was with horror that she realized what she was thinking. She had never had such thoughts before, never had to. She tried to calm down.
"Where have you been?" she asked carefully.
There was a click and before he could answer Aki ran into his arms.
"Big brother, you're back," he shouted, beaming. Jelana tensed up imperceptibly.
"Be sensible!", She thought, "that's still your brother. He won't harm you or the little ones!"
"Are you staying this time? You're not going away, are you?" Aki was beside himself, while Mokuba was obviously happy for him, because he was standing next to him smiling.
"Yes, I'm staying this time." he assured, looking Jelana in the eye.
Liar.
"Come on Aki. Go play with your friend. We'll play something together later, okay?"
Aki nodded, looked around again to make sure that his big brother really stayed where he was and then went to his friend.
"Um, don't you want to play something outside?" Jelana asked quickly. So she could confront Takumi in peace without worrying about the two of them.
"Ouch, yes," Aki shouted. "Come on Moki, although it is autumn the weather is quite good, we have to take advantage of that!"
The two of them quickly slipped into their jackets and stomped loudly through the hallway outside.
Jelana and Takumi stayed behind in silence.
"Are you afraid that I will do something to both of them or why did you send them out? You don't come up with such ideas otherwise."
His big grin sent a shiver down her spine.
"Um, nonsense. How do you come up with that. As Aki said, he should get the weather out .."
"Don't talk shit!"
Jelana winced. It wasn't her brother. Her brother would never have talked to her like that. What was the matter with him?
"Why are you being like this?" she asked softly, her voice almost failing.
"None of your business. You would suppress it immediately anyway, as you always like to do, wouldn't you 'little sister'?"She clearly heard the sarcasm in his voice.
"What?"
"Forget it!" he disappeared into his room and locked the door.
Again Jelana stood confused and alone in the dark hallway. What was going on today?
She would have liked to pester her brother further, but she didn't dare. If he said more of these things and confused her, she would go nuts.
Sighing, she sat down on the couch. She just couldn't make sense of what others said today. Was it her fault?
Her skull buzzed. Has she got a migraine again? A little annoyed, she got up again and went to the bathroom cabinet where the headache pills were.
She had just swallowed one and was about to put the glass in the dishwasher when the phone rang.
Who wanted what now?
"Hello?" she growled annoyed into the receiver.
"Ohoh, that doesn't sound good." came a familiar voice.
Who damn was that? It took her a little while to understand that Tea was on the line.
"Oh, hi Tea."
Jelana wondered where Tea could get her number from. Although she had made good friends with Joey, she had not yet been able to develop a closer bond with Tea. It was just hard for her to talk to this girl even though she really liked her.
"Actually, I just wanted to ask you what we're up to in math. Joey lost my piece of paper on which the homework was written.", She started and without giving Jelana an opportunity to answer, "But you really don't seem like that To be in a good mood. Do you
