The half-Saiyan did not know how much time had passed when he finally found the strength to stand up again. Unable to form a single clear thought, he swayed to the edge of the platform and let himself fall into the depths. He felt empty and burned out, somehow where his feelings and sensations were, there was just a big black hole. Almost automatically, his body caught the fall and took off without following any particular direction.
Why did he have such a talent for always doing everything wrong? Of course, he couldn't think of an answer to that. “Why did I let myself go like that?” He asked himself this question over and over again.
How long he had been flying, he didn't know. The last products of mankind, every sign of civilization and progress, had long since given way to a barren, empty landscape. Now, for the first time, the half-Saiyan was consciously aware of his surroundings. Everything seemed very familiar to him here. A wave of the most varied scraps of memory flooded his consciousness. Completely overwhelmed, he started to land. Here, right here, was where it all began. That was where he'd learned to stand on his own two feet and take care of himself. Right here Piccolo had trained him, what seemed an eternity ago, and made him grow from a crybaby and mother's boy to what he was today. But what was he today? He didn't even know that, but maybe he could find out from here. Surely no one suspected him here, but he still extinguished his aura. So Gohan could be sure that if he were to be searched for, he would not be found.
He looked around briefly and then went purposefully to the cave that had been a home to him as a child. When the pleasant, cool darkness enveloped him, he lay down on the bare ground. He pulled his legs up and wrapped his arms around them. He had made up his mind that he would stay here as there was nowhere else to go. The boy closed his eyes and sank completely into his gloomy thoughts. Again the tears came to him, but this time he didn't resist and so he cried you to sleep.

After breaking away from Gohan, Piccolo had quickly gone to his room. He had let himself fall as he was on his bed and put his right arm over his eyes. He no longer understood his feelings. There was something warm and secure about the embrace of his former protégé that it had been very difficult for him to tear himself away from it. It had hurt him very much to see the boy crouching on the floor and crying so bitterly. The Namek wanted to take him in his arms and never let go, but he couldn't jump over his shadow. Yes, exactly, he too harbored tender feelings for the young half-Saiyajin and could no longer imagine being without him. But Piccolo remained realistic, even if they both had the same feelings for each other, this love was very likely doomed to fail. Society, with its twisted morals, would certainly not tolerate such a relationship and he did not want to expose his loved one to that. He would rather kill off all sensations than hurt him in any way.
So he had withdrawn from the boy, hoping to do the right thing. But the further he got away from him, the closer he wanted to be. His heart threatened to burst and every fiber of his body screamed for Gohan. But the half-Saiyan wasn't here and he couldn't feel him either."It's better that way," Piccolo tried to convince himself, but didn't even believe his own words. A single tear rolled down his cheek.

In the meantime the new morning was already dawning and Chichi ran nervously through the house. Her oldest son had been gone for hours. He had said he just wanted to visit this Namek for a moment. That was yesterday and he still wasn't home. She was terribly worried about him, otherwise it wasn't his way to just stay away. Again and again she looked at the clock, it was already 8 o'clock. The mother of two sons collapsed on a chair in the kitchen. She hadn't been able to sleep all night and waited for him. Now she propped her elbows on the table and buried her face in it. Suddenly she felt a hand put on her shoulders. “Gohan!” With a jerk she jumped up and looked around you. Then she recognized her youngest son, who was trying to comfort her."It's good mom, he'll be home soon," he said, hugging his mother for a moment. “Thank you, my darling,” she replied, “but I'll call Bulma sometime.” With these words she got up and went to the phone. Chichi picked up the phone and dialed the number she knew. After telling her friend everything, Bulma promised to fly to the palace of God and ask. Gratefully she hung up again.

There was a knock on his door and Piccolo growled: “Come in!” Dende entered the room and stood undecided in front of the devil's bed. He had never seen the other like this, so hurt and lonely, somehow alone. He didn't seem to have slept either, because he was lying on his duvet with clothes on and looked sleepy. Something must have happened that he couldn't put away and forget that easily. The new god had known for some time that Piccolo had fallen madly in love. He just didn't know who these feelings were for.
The devil wiped his face with one hand and sat on the edge of the bed. Dende looked at him invitingly: "Do you perhaps know where Gohan is? Bulma has just been here and said that he did not come home yesterday. They could not find a trace of him anywhere so far."
Piccolo suddenly looked up. An icy hand seemed to grab his heart and crush it like an overripe tomato. That could not be true. Gohan was gone. His Gohan. Oh no, was it his fault for treating him so coldly? “I'm going to look for him!” With these words he rushed out of his room.
Dende watched him go with a smile, now he finally knew who Piccolo was in love with: Gohan. There was no longer any doubt about that and he was happy for him.

Where should he look for him? He couldn't feel it anywhere. He suppressed his aura. The fact that he had deleted it indicated that he did not want to be found. The Namek stopped and was now floating motionless in the air.
Following an inner instinct, he took off in a westerly direction. He had a guess as to where he might find Gohan. Therefore Piccolo suppressed his aura and flew as fast as he could into the lonely area where he had abandoned the then four-year-old boy and then trained him.
What if he couldn't find it here, then ... Piccolo tried not to think about it.
A few minutes later he started to land again. Nothing had changed here in all the years. Everywhere you could see high mountains and very sparse vegetation. In the distance a herd of dinosaurs passed by, making the ground shake slightly. Screeching birds flew their courses up in the cloudless sky.
Piccolo tried again to locate the half-Saiyan's aura, but again to no avail. He looked around in all directions, here she had to be somewhere and there he found what he was looking for.He tried not to make a sound as he entered the cave his former charge had inhabited here. After his eyes got used to the semi-darkness, he saw a pitiful figure lying on the cold hard rock floor. His heart jumped for joy, he had finally found him. Gohan moaned softly in his sleep and spasmodic convulsions ran through his body at times. He obviously had a nightmare. The Namek sat next to the boy and watched him sleep. He would never leave him alone again, he now knew that for sure. He had worried too much about the other for that.

He slowly woke up and his whole body ached. So he first kept his eyes closed and wondered where he was. This didn't feel like his bed and it smelled differently than at home, somehow musty and damp. Then suddenly the memory of the previous day returned. He wanted to find himself and that was why he came here to be alone.
That oppressive feeling was there again and Gohan opened his eyes. "Well, finally you're awake again," said a very familiar voice softly. The boy turned his head in the direction she had come from and recognized his mentor. The most varied feelings ran through him: relief because he was no longer alone, happiness because Piccolo had found him and fear that he would again be rejected by him.
With a jerk he sat bolt upright and turned pale as a sheet. "Pi ... Piccolo, wh ... what are you doing here?" His voice was a single stutter and he didn't dare look at the devil directly. But the next words made him astonished to see his eyes. "Please don't ever do that again," said Piccolo tenderly, "I was so afraid for you!"
