Preface:

<br />
This is the first of several planned, self-contained stories that tell of the seven years between Son Gokou's second death and his vacation day on earth. This particular story was inspired by Freezer's brief vision of Gokou's father. I know there is a special about this Saiyan called Bardock, but other than his name I didn't use any of it for this story. Unfortunately, I haven't seen the special itself yet. Some elements of hell were based on Barry Hughart's book "Master Li and the Stone of Heaven". The spelling of some names and terms (Saiyan, Kililyn, Gokou, Dragon Balls) was based on my few Dragon Ball Z Hero Collection Cards.

The uprising of the Saiyans

Part 1
<br />
<br />
Gokou was bored. He had seen little change since his useless victory in the Afterlife Tournament.Though he still did his exercises with the other deceased heroes of his master Kaio on a regular basis, somehow the air was outside. To be dead was just dead boring.
<br />
In addition, there was nothing to eat here. Not that he died of hunger (difficult to do if you were already dead), but he lacked the culinary delight of Chichi's excellent cuisine.
<br />
Master Kaio had been gone for a good two days, urgent circumstances required an immediate meeting of all Kaios, it had been said.
<br />
So Gokou was just crouching on a meadow of flowers, staring up at the leaves of a beautiful old tree that was as perfect as everything in this paradise and wishing Piccolo and Vegeta to finally have some really tough opponents again.
<br />
“Gokou!” Master Kaio's shout tore the Saiyan from his indolence. Before Gokou saw Master Kaios, he suspected that something extraordinary must have happened.In anticipation of a long-awaited change, Gokou straightened up and looked at Master Kaio. He came swiftly on his short legs and his cricket feelers twitched with excitement.
<br />
"What is it, Master Kaio?" Gokou asked curiously. "You look like all hell is going on."
<br />
Master Kaio paused to breathe and wiped the sweat from his forehead. "You don't know how right you are, Gokou," he gasped. "In hell the devil is going on, or rather, he has come to restrain him."
<br />
"Wait a minute," Gokou wasn't the quickest thinker. "What exactly happened and one after the other, please."
<br />
Master Kaio plopped down on the meadow next to Gokou and sighed heavily. "Well, I'll try. You've been to hell for a moment, haven't you?"
<br />
"Back when I fell off the snake path and again when Freezer, Cell and the rest of the Ginyu Force made a riot. A place with variety ..."
<br />
"Well, there were always more than enough of those there.The hell you know is unfortunately only a preliminary stage of the real hell or the realm of shadows as we call it. The one who is supposed to keep order there is feared even among us Kaios, for he knows no mercy. D. as we call him, it is considered a bad omen to pronounce his name, hell has been relatively well under control so far. When the bunch of troublemakers were brought to his home, it was pretty soon quiet around them. He stuffed Cell and the Ginyu Force into a deep hole, but he kind of a fooled Freezer and let him run around as he pleased. I don't know what Enma thought of letting these villains have their bodies, but that probably gave D an idea and he has a number of other souls, which he has so far kept away from the usual cleansing and rebirth for good reasons Body given back without telling Enma about it. When Enma found out, he wanted to confront D, but D ran away.We think he fled to Earth until the thunderstorm cleared Enma's palace. Well, in any case, Enma D's botch can no longer be undone and now a good hundred wild Saiyans are free under Freezer's command. They have already given Enma an ultimatum, either they get heavenly conditions down there and also six weeks vacation a year, or they storm his palace and tear the book of souls into small pieces. "
<br />
"A hundred Saiyans? Which ones?"
<br />
"The worst of the worst, of course. Freezer's top guards at their best. All of the skilled fighters and the poor sub-devils that D let down have already been overrun by them. Now they all wear a halo, which looks very funny to their horns. "
<br />
A hundred Saiyans, that sounded like a refreshing exercise before lunch, and there was freezer for dessert. Gokou jumped up in delight and began to warm up his muscles."I can start right away, Master Kaio. Where does the Shadow Realm go?"
<br />
"Don't be too hasty, Gokou. The conditions down there are not as heavenly as here and therefore these Saiyans, who have been languishing down there for years, have more to do than you think. Enma's mission is that the situation is first explored. We Kaios have drawn a lottery who will lead the negotiations with the Saiyans as Enma's agent and I pulled the shortest stick. "From his face, that wasn't the main prize.
<br />
"Then we go together? Great, I've wanted to see you fight for a long time"
<br />
"Do you have something with your ears, Gokou? I said 'scout out', which means something like locating the situation, spying, investigating ...."
<br />
Gokou stopped stretching. "It's okay, I understand. You have a plan, don't you?"
<br />
Master Kaio nodded. "Indeed I have. Freezer doesn't know me, but you know you all the better.When he sees you, he will know what the hour has struck and his Saiyans will rush you immediately. "
<br />
Gokou scratched his head. "Your concern is really touching, Master Kaio, but what can happen to me, I'm already dead."
<br />
"So are the Saiyans. What you have to lose is the bonus of being able to keep your body. If you take so much damage down there in hell that you are reduced to a soul flame, you can no longer go back to paradise." "
<br />
"Hmmm ..." That sounded like a little caution would be more appropriate than blind bravado.
<br />
"Should I stay there then?"
<br />
"Of course not. I'm not thinking of venturing into Freezers Hell without my best fighter. But of course you can't appear there as you look now. We'll have to disguise you."
<br />
"Should I dress like you?" Asked Gokou. He was very attached to his combat suit and Master Kaio's appearance wasn't exactly awesome in his eyes."The feelers would really get in the way when I fight."
<br />
Master Kaio got up, patted a few stalks off his clothes. "Don't worry, you don't have to walk around as Kaio, we're just going to make a few small changes. First of all, the clothes."
<br />
He snapped his fingers and Gokou wore harem pants, a shirt with puff sleeves and a baggy, baggy throw over it that looked like a poncho but came down to his knees. Everything in different shades of gray and blue. "That should hide your muscles. Can you move well in it?"
<br />
Gokou tried to jump high in the air, performed a few blows and kicks and landed with a somersault again in front of Master Kaio. "No problem, but a belt wouldn't be bad, or at least a sash so that the thing", he tugged at the throw, "doesn't flap so much."
<br />
His Master nodded and completed Gokou's lift with a short cord that was loosely around his waist. "Good, your hair then ..." Another flick and Gokou's wild strands became a long, smooth mane that was flat and tied in a ponytail at the nape of the neck with a blue ribbon.Before Gokou could comment, he also got wrinkles on his face, more than his grandfather would have had during his lifetime, and Master Kaio asked if he would rather be gray, blue or green. Gokou decided on green and in no time Master Kaio Piccolo's skin tone had charmed him. "It's pretty good," said the Kaio critically and marched around Gokou.
<br />
"But won't Freezer recognize my aura?", Gokou asked skeptically and felt his head. It was a strange feeling to have such tame hair all of a sudden.
<br />
"I'll take care of that too," assured Master Kaio. "We also need a name for you, how about Sonou? My secretary Sonou. Since you are an old, worn-out dead man, you have to move that way too, of course. With that," he pointed with his index finger at Gokou's left shoulder " with it, with it and with it, "the other shoulder and both feet," it should work. Suddenly Gokou was wearing shoulder boards and boots.<br />
"Isn't that a little exaggerated," he groaned and snorted. Both boots and shoulder pieces must have weighed several tons.
<br />
"Not at all," said Master Kaio with a raised index finger. You will shuffle obediently with hunched shoulders like an old man, now the icing on the cake. "One last flick and around Gokou's neck was a wide, silver hoop.
<br />
"What for?" Asked Gokou, answering the question himself, because now his voice also sounded old and worn out. "The tire changes your aura too. It dampens them and shifts their spectrum from Saiyan to Gerandian. Those are the greenskins from the Delta Nebula that look like you now. They are considered good fighters, but compared to your real me they are weak . "
<br />
One last spell and Gokou carried a thick notebook and a gold pen. "As my skater you will write down the details of the situation in detail. You can write, right?"<br />
Gokou nodded. "A little bit."
<br />
"That won't be enough, I'm afraid," sighed Master Kaio. He stepped close to Gokou and touched his forehead with his feelers. Gokou felt like someone was digging through his mind, making connections and opening doors that had been closed forever. "That should be enough," said Master Kaio.
<br />
Gokou frowned.
<br />
"You can now speak and write about 1200 languages of the universe. In addition, I have anchored your new name in such a way that you will react to it, wasn't it, Sonou?"
<br />
Sonou bowed. "You are a genius, Master Kaio," he croaked.
<br />
"I know that, thank you
