Part 2

Gusts of wind still hissed around the igloo-shaped house. It was long past midnight, but Vegeta's fever did not want to go down.
Bulma dipped a towel in cold water several times to cool his forehead. He seemed to feel it because he licked his chapped lips.
Bulma poured some tea from the pot, which her mother had carefully placed next to the bed, into a mug and wet his lips with the lukewarm liquid. He greedily licked up the few tropics. Carefully she gave him a small sip, then a larger one and before she knew it the cup was empty.Vegeta seemed to have had enough, he turned to the side and wrapped his arms around his body. The damp cloth slipped onto the pillow, Bulma quickly took it away and felt his forehead. The fever hadn't broken yet and he also seemed to have nightmares because he was muttering something to himself that she couldn't understand.

Vegeta didn't know where he was. Everything was dark and he was terribly cold. The cold struck its icy claws in his skin, his mind, his soul ... he doubled over and drew his knees, but the agony did not subside and he could no longer hold back the trembling.
..............
Huddled under the covers in an embryonic position, Vegeta Bulma looked more like a helpless child. His forehead was still hot and yet his teeth chattered and goose bumps covered his arms. The hot water bottles had long since cooled down and Bulma couldn’t help herself. Then she remembered that as a little girl she had once had such bad chills, when her mother had come, lay in bed with her and warmed her with her body.
Did the Sayan's mothers take care of their children in the same way? Probably not, otherwise they would not have sent Gokou on such a long journey as a baby.
.................

The darkness built up in front of Vegeta and seemed to mock him. The icy cold ate deeper and deeper inside him and found echo in those corners of his lonely soul, which he had hidden and denied from everyone, including himself.
"You are a prince," he heard his father's voice. "You must never cry, never show weakness, never ask for help ...."
But it hurt so much! The cold didn't make him numb, it cut through his sore body as if with crystal blades, he wanted to defend himself, but there was no more strength in him.His silent cry for help was swallowed up in the loneliness of his heart. Deeper and deeper he sank into nothing.
..............
Somehow Bulma had the uneasy feeling that Vegeta was moving away more and more, although he was lying right in front of her. His contorted face spoke of pain that he shouldn't have after the injection. His skin was hot, and yet he was shivering.
Bulma made up her mind. "Woe to you, you take liberties," she whispered to him, lay down next to him under the covers, put her arms on his trembling body and pressed against his back to give him as much of her body heat as possible. "I'm just a hot water bottle, nothing else, understand ...?" She breathed into his ear. Of course there was no answer, but he seemed to be calmer. Bulma put her cheek against his back and closed her eyes. The excitement took its toll and she slipped over into a dreamless, deep sleep.

Vegeta felt someone calling him. A warmth stole from his back inside and pushed the cold and the darkness back. Vegeta felt safe, secure, a feeling that he hadn't felt in a long time, that would never have believed that it existed .... It was as if he heard a soft voice hum a lullaby. But there was his father's voice again, not ruthless, but indomitable and serious. "You mustn't spoil him like that. I know he's your only child, but our whole hope rests on him. We all pray that he will successfully defy Freezer one day. But if you spoil him, flatter him, will he softened and his strength will never awaken. "Strong hands pulled him out of the security, out of the warmth, so that the cold and the darkness regained strength. He wanted to go back, he wanted to cling to the warmth, hold it, never let it go ......
...............................

A sharp pain roused Bulma from sleep. Vegeta had rolled over and pressed his face to her chest. But much worse was that he had put his arms around her and that with a grip, as if he wanted to crush a rock. She felt her ribs crack and tried to wriggle out of his embrace, but Vegeta, feeling her resistance, just squeezed tighter. Bulma tugged angrily at his hair. "Wake up, you bully, you're still breaking all my ribs!" She gasped, but he didn't seem to hear her. She could hardly breathe and stars were already dancing in front of her eyes. Then he mumbled something that sounded like "Mama" and, surprised, she gave up her resistance. So Vegeta hadn't always been such a cold-hearted monster ... How did he look as a baby? So instead of fighting back, she moved closer to him again, stroked his hair soothingly and mumbled, "Don't worry, Vegeta. It will be alright. I stay with you. I'm not going away ... "

The warmth withdrew from him. He held her tighter and tighter in fear. He didn't want to lose her, didn't want to be alone in the dark and cold. But then the warmth came back, and with it a new voice that seemed strangely familiar but didn't belong in his childhood. She talked to him gently, soft arms held him tight, hugged him, gave him hope and strength. Now he was able to take on the cold, drive it away on his own, and slowly movement returned to his frozen soul. He breathed more calmly and deeply and his mind slowly rose again from the abyss .....
......................

Bulma was relieved to see that the grip was loosening. Vegeta rolled over again and turned her back on her. Exhausted, she closed her eyes. Hopefully she could find some rest for the rest of the night ... this tramp made more grief than it was worth .....
At dawn she woke up and realized that she had snuggled against his back again. His pajama top was damp with sweat and Bulma was relieved to see that the fever had dropped. She put her hand on his forehead and yes, it felt a lot cooler than before. He would probably wake up again soon. Bulma threw back the covers and got up. Her ribs still hurt, hopefully he hadn't broken too many of them, this Neanderthal man .... Her mother found her crouching in the armchair two hours later, her face contorted in pain.
"What happened to you, darling," she asked astonished. Bulma told her in a few words.
"With Vegeta's strength, you never know, the best thing to do is let dad drive you to the hospital for an X-ray, the streets should be cleared by now."
"But ...", her daughter wanted to object with a look at Vegeta.
But her mother did not give in."I'll take care of him, now that the fever has fallen, he'll surely wake up soon and be hungry."
Bulma reluctantly gave in and her father, to whom she told that she had fallen while rescuing Vegeta, but it did not start to hurt until the night, hurriedly got his car out of the capsule while she was changing.
No sooner had they left for the hospital than Bulma's mother cooked a large pot of gruel and made fresh tea. When Vegeta woke up about half an hour later, Bulma's mother came into the room with a steaming plate.
"Well, finally woke up, you patient? How are you feeling?", She asked friendly and put the plate with the gruel on a table right next to his bed.
“As if a horde of Freezers had attacked me.” Only now did he notice that he was wearing dark blue pajamas and he frowned, which Bulma's mother did not miss.
"These are my husband's pajamas.Hopefully it's not too uncomfortable. "
"How did I get into bed and into that part?" Vegeta wondered. "I was training, then the storm came and I wanted to take a little break ..."
"... and probably fell asleep because of exhaustion and the cold," said Ms. Briefs. She dipped the spoon into the plate. "So now say AAA!"
"I'm not a baby," hissed Vegeta and tried to sit up, but he was as weak as a newborn kitten and his whole body hurt. It was different than after an injury in a fight, this was a pain that sucked the strength out of his bones and made him limp and defenseless. When he finally made it and sat halfway upright, the sweat ran down his face and he huffed like a walrus.
Bluma's mother, who had been watching patiently (true to the motto: you give stubborn children a small victory, the easier it is to persuade them to do other things ...), held the spoon in front of his face.Vegeta wanted to protest, but she had just waited for it and in no time his mouth was full of gruel.
"All men are like babies when they are sick," said Bulma's mother happily and watched with eagle eyes that he was also swallowing the gruel.
Vegeta managed to repeat his question between two spoons of gruel (the stuff wasn't that bad and he was hungry ...).
"Oh, my husband and Bulma put your pajamas on after the bath. You were completely frozen, you know ... and a hot bath is the best way to do this."
Vegeta almost choked on the nearest spoon. After Bulma's mother patted him heartily on the back, he breathed again and gasped. "Wait a minute, Bulma undressed me ?? !! And took a bath ?? !!"
"She has more strength than my husband and I, without her he wouldn't have gotten you into the tub," she explained and stirred the gruel.
