Darkness of Endsville
10 years later .....
The ringing of the school bell ended the first day of class at Angie's new school. Annoyed, she walked out of the classroom. A strand of black hair hung across her face and she tucked it behind her ear. She looked around coolly. Students stood, ran and laughed in the whole corridor. The commotion gave her a headache and she went into the side passage, but there were also very many and everything seemed to get louder from second to second. She unconsciously opened a door and went inside. Tiles stretched in front of her feet and there were sinks against one wall. She was in the girls' room. A small smile quickly spread over the corner of her mouth and she let her hand gently run along the white tiles. She moved slowly towards the window. She was blinded by the warm rays of the sun as Angie approached. She blinked in shock. It took a while for her eyes to get used to the brightness.A light breeze blew her hair back on her face. Mechanically she tucked the strands behind her ear. With a slight grin she looked out of the closed window. Then she was frightened. The draft grew stronger and a whispering voice was carried to her from the walls. Angie shivered. With quick steps she left the room and stepped into the corridor. The hallway stretched dark and empty before her. Nobody was there. "Angie, come to me. I want to play with you!" Echoed from the walls. She looked around in fear. Her breath went faster. With narrowed eyes she tried to calm down. The echo grew louder and louder. After a while, Angie opened her eyes. Slowly she started moving and stepped away from the toilets.
"ANGIE, COME TO ME IMMEDIATELY!" It echoed menacingly to her. Suddenly Angie ran off. "YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE ME LIKE THAT!" Someone shouted, something.
She just wanted to get away. Far from school, far from the voice. Her pulse was racing when she saw a door from which a narrow beam of sunshine stole out. She grabbed the handle and threw the door open. She was in her classroom. Suddenly the door slammed behind her. She started back, startled, then shook the handle hysterically. The door was locked. Exhausted, she sank down on the floor and leaned against it. Everything blurred in front of her and she went numb.
Angie sat on the floor, unable to move or feel anything. She blinked and tried to keep her eyes open. She was about to fall asleep when suddenly a terrible stench brought her out of her trance. Suddenly she opened her eyes and looked into deep blackness. After a few seconds she could see some benches and tables, but she still didn't know where the smell was coming from. Feeling with her hands on the floor, she crawled to a table. She touched him. Putrefaction spread all over the table and he collapsed under splinters.Angie cried out when a splinter of wood burrowed into her flesh and it started to bleed. With a throbbing hand she sat in front of the broken table. The stench was slowly becoming unbearable. She pulled herself up and took one step at a time to the window. With her injured hand she opened it. Bright light fell into the room. She turned around. Her gaze fell on the plants. She wanted to touch them. Fascinating, she moved towards them and reached out a hand to them. The plant withered in front of her eyes and she started back. Suddenly the windows burst and in a matter of seconds mushrooms spread over the cupboards. The walls were getting old and crumbling. The smell of rotting wood caught her nostrils. Angie closed her eyes. Her hair was tangled in her face as she desperately buried it in her hands. She crouched down sobbing. "No, leave me alone. Finally leave me alone!" She uttered with tears.Their sobs and pleadings echoed off the walls and were amplified. But she heard a soft, whispering voice that cut its way through the echo.
"I should leave you alone ?!" We always had so much fun. Remember, remember my last visit! "
"No! Leave me alone," Angie yelled hysterically.
"But you should remember! Come on, remember!"
Sobbing more, Angie tried to remember and cried out when she was suddenly touched. Frightened, she looked up at a hand whose flesh and skin hung worn from the bones. She got up with a loud scream. In doing so, she stumbled and fell on a rotten bench. Small flames suddenly leaped up the bench and sank into her flesh and hair. Angie couldn't move in shock. The fire spread and wrapped itself around her body. Screaming in pain, she slumped.Lying on the floor gasping for breath, she closed her eyes. A hollow laugh accompanied her into the darkness. Then everything went quiet.
