Nobody's Home
She wants to go home, But nobody's home, It's where she lies, Broken inside
With no place to go, no place to go, to dry her eyes, broken inside
Miwako walked the streets of Tokyo with no particular destination. The sun was already setting and bathing the evening sky in a beautiful play of colors. But Miwako did not notice this. People passed her in rivers. Time has slowed down for her since that day, the one fateful day that stole everything from her: her dreams, her future and the man she loved.
The lights of the Ginza shops shone brightly around them. Families, young people, adults were there, laughing, enjoying the time they spend with their friends and loved ones, reminding them of their first date with him.
She came out of the cinema laughing. He looked at her in amusement. A pleasant cool breeze blew through the streets of Tokyo. She raised her head against the wind and enjoyed the feeling. Then Miwako turned to him."I'm hungry," she said with a grin.
"Are you always like this?" He asked, also grinning.
“You know that, Wataru.” She was about to cross the street when he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her back to him. At that moment a car raced over the place where she was standing. Miwako and Wataru were now very close to each other, only their bag was between them.
"I ... uh ..." he stuttered.
"Looks like you saved me," she said with a smile. The two looked at each other and then kissed. When their lips parted again, Miwako smiled. "I like the evening better and better."
A tear ran down her cheek and Miwako wiped it away. A couple came from a restaurant near her. The sight of the happy couple almost brings new tears again, but she keeps her emotions under control. Her feet propel her forward to her unknown destination. She has nowhere to go. Wherever she goes, everything remembers the time with Wataru.Memories that she cannot yet face.
The sun was now completely gone and darkness had fallen over Tokyo. The same kind of darkness that has settled over her heart. As she crossed the street, Miwako left the lights of the Ginza behind. Miwako looked up at stars like they had the answers to all of your questions ...
"Miwako?", Wataru called from the bedroom-
“Yes?” She was pulling on an oversized t-shirt and then went back to the bedroom, where he was already in bed. She climbed into her bed over to Wataru, who hugged her in his arms. Satisfied, she laid her head on his shoulder.
"How long have we been together?" He asked.
"Hmm, over a year," she replied.
"Over a year. Okay."
"Yes why?"
"I think we should get married."
Miwako looked up at him. She looked in the look on his face for reasons why he asked her. Yet she found tenderness, compassion ... and love. Love was the reason he asked her to be his wife.He loved her.
"Yes, I will marry you.", Miwako smiled. He smiled happily and kissed her. "I love you, Wataru."
"I love you too, Miwako. I will always love you." Miwako kissed him on the mouth and then turned on her side so that her back was to Wataru. His arms were still around her. She was in the arms of the man she loved and knowing that they will be together forever.
'Forever. 'thought Miwako. You and Wataru would be together forever. But they never had the chance ...
There was chaos around Miwako. Cops and paramedics hurried around her, but she was frozen. What happened played over and over again in her head. The suspect turns around, fires his weapon, Miwako stood there, unable to move, in the middle of the hail of bullets. Wataru pushed her aside. Miwako saw the bullets hit him as he fell backwards to the ground. Paramedics were there immediately and tried to save him.Miwako and Inspector Megure stood aside, waiting for news. Someone had put his jacket over her, possibly Inspector Megure.
'Please let him live. 'prayed Miwako. 'I love him. Let him live. 'But then she heard screams. Wataru's heart had stopped beating and the paramedics tried to bring him back to life. Miwako watched in horror and couldn't believe it. A few minutes later the paramedics stopped. One of them turned to Inspector Megure and Miwako shook his head. At first Miwako didn't react, she couldn't. But then she started to sob.
"No!" She cried, tears running down her face. Her legs gave out and she fell. Inspector Megure caught it and let it slide to the ground. "No. No, no, no ...", Miwako repeated over and over again through tears. Inspector Megure held her in his arms as she wept her heart. Soon she fell silent, but her tears still fell. She started to whimper. Megure held her, tried to comfort her.
"I'm sorry, Sato," he whispered. "I am so sorry."
Miwako stopped. As she looked around, she noticed that she was at Wataru's apartment. She hesitated before going upstairs. She stopped in front of his door and raised her hand to knock, as she always did, despite a key. Then she opened the door and went inside. In her mind she can see Wataru approaching her to greet her with a kiss. Miwako smiled sadly as she walked through his apartment. Most of Wataru's things had been packed in boxes since he wanted to move in with her. There was a picture on a table. Miwako took it and looked at it and saw that it was a photo that was taken during one of their dates. She rubbed his face sadly before putting the picture back. She turned and went into the bedroom. As she walked in, memories came back to her. Emotions threatened to overwhelm her again.Miwako remembered how many neighbors she spent here in his arms. Tears ran down her face. Miwako could smell Wataru everywhere and almost his presence. She touched the bed and a few tears fell on it. On his dessert there were more photos of himself and Miwako, but also photos of his colleagues and the Detectiv Boys. But there were only photos of Miwako. She went to his closet and took out a t-shirt. Then she looked around his apartment. Miwako sat in the hallway crying, knowing that she could never stop crying.
Miwako stopped. When she looked around she was standing in the middle of a park. She was alone. She went to a cherry tree and sat down. Miwako leaned back and closed her eyes. Memories came back to her again, this time so strong that she held her breath and opened her eyes again. Tears were in her eyes and again her emotions threatened to overwhelm her. She pulled her legs up and hugged them.It had been two weeks since he died. Miwako missed Wataru. She missed being around him to confide in him, she missed being hugged by him, his kisses, his smile, his laughter that brightened her day. She also missed his teasing when she was driving. But most of all she missed the feeling he gave her when he was with her. Even her apartment seemed brighter when he was there. Now Miwako can no longer go home. She has nowhere to go. A tear fell and others followed. Miwako began to cry uncontrollably. The tears just fell and Miwako couldn't stop them. She sat and cried and knew that she couldn't stop crying.
A few meters away, Inspector Megure was standing behind a tree and watching the young woman. It hurt his soul to see her like that, but he knew that Miwako would have to go through this difficult time alone. So Megure stood there and saw Miwako crying over Wataru, her lost love.
