"Conan!" I shouted when I got into class. Genta and Mitsuhiko came to me, but I ran past them and went to Conan and Ai.
"Ah ..." Conan said and I could swear he was a little nervous. “Good morning, Ayumi.” Ai, who was sitting next to him, smiled. Apparently she found that amusing. "What's up?"
"I knew you were asking that," I said. "I've got the new Two Mix album! Do you want to hear it after school?" I asked, although I already knew the answer.
"Sorry, but I promised to help her with dinner tonight."
Genta and Mitsuhiko emerged from behind me and grinned. "Can we come Ayumi?"
I turned and smiled. "Sure! Why don't you all come to me after school?"
Genta and Mitsuhiko cheered and Ai shrugged, which should mean "Sure, why not?" I turned back to Conan. "Are you sure you don't want to come, Conan?"
"No, it's okay. Go and have fun," he replied.Something in his voice and the way he talked makes me think he was an adult. But that's exactly what I like about him. I laughed at the thought and the others looked at me in amazement.
The school bell rang and lessons began. The day passed as usual: sitting bored in his seat, listening to the teacher and wondering why Conan and Ai are doing so well at school despite their inattentiveness. The break came and we talked and talked about cartoons and the late night crime novel. Then lunch came and, as always, Genta was ready first, then lessons were again and when the school bell rang for the last time that day, we packed our things and left.
"... so I went to these two guys and said they should stop, but they just laughed." I excitedly told my friends about my experience the previous evening. "So they kept abusing the kittens. Then I told them my father was the chairman of the Animal Welfare Association and showed them my Detective Boy badges. They fell for it and ran away. "
"Cool," said Genta appreciatively.
"What about the kittens?" Asked Mitsuhiko.
"They ran away." I answered him. We were walking past a restaurant when two men came out of it, grabbed me and ran across the street with me.
"Conan!" I yelled.
I was dragged away and all I could remember was something falling on the floor. "Call Inspector Megure and Haibara: Use my glasses." I heard Conan before I lost consciousness.

I don't know how long I was passed out. When I woke up, my mouth was taped shut and my hands were cuffed. I was trapped in some kind of department store. I got up slowly and saw the men who had kidnapped me. It was the same men who mistreated the kittens.
"What do we do now?" One of them asked.
"Didn't she say their chairman was on something? They must be rich."replied the other.
"How do we get the number out? The little one is still unconscious."
"Then wake her! Pour water on her face or do something else, just get the phone number!"
"I think that wouldn't be a good idea," came a third person. I looked up to see Conan on his skateboard.
"How ... how did he find us?" One man stuttered.
"That was really not difficult. You kidnapped a member of the Detective Boys and we have our own means of communication." Conan said with a grin and showed his badge.
I held my breath as the two men drew knives.
"That won't do you any good.", Conan said. "Even if you catch me, they'll find you: the police are already on their way. And second ..." He grinned, took a soccer ball from behind his back and turned a button on his shoe. "You won't get me."
The next thing I saw was the ball going through the room at insane speed and hitting the one man. This pulled his accomplice to the ground and knocked him out. That was when I realized something: Conan was no ordinary kid. He wasn't a child. "

Genta, Mitsuhiko, and I smiled as Shinichi and Ran strode down the red carpet. I don't have a crush on him anymore, but I look up to Shinichi as kind of a big brother. Both he and Ran gave me good advice. When I look back at my time in first grade, I can only laugh at my childlike naivete.
"Hey, Ayumi!" A voice called from behind me.
