Chapter 2
"How did you find me?"
"Luck? Can? Doesn't matter, I'll find you again and again." Andre looked at her grimly, "but it won't be good for you next time." He clenched his hand into a fist and Dorra automatically took a step back and set hers Things off.
"I'm not going back, Andre. Even if you carry me to the castle and leave there, I'll run away again and look at the world."
"I know that, so I want to suggest a compromise to you. He smiled at her now, so that she remained skeptical.
"And what kind of compromise?"
"I'll bring you back, but make a detour through a few towns and villages so that you can get to know a piece of the world."
"And what's the catch?" Dorra asked carefully.
"Nowhere do I just feel responsible for you because I've saved your life before."He grinned even wider and bowed slightly.
"No tricks?"
"I promise it."
"Ok, let's go then." She turned around, picked up her things and followed Andre, who led her out of the village.
“We'll stay here for the night.” The boy let the things fall into a clearing. The two have been hiking all day and arriving in a forest where they found the clearing when the sun began to set.
"Here? But there is nothing to eat here and where should we sleep?"
"On the floor, we have blankets, but it will still be cold at night."
“Sleep outside? On the hard floor?” She turned around.
"Yes here and now stay here, I'm looking for wood for the fire and something to eat."
“I don't want to be here alone.” She held the boy's arm.
"You are not coming with me, I am going alone and you are not following me either. You can rest, princess. I wonder how you were going to cope on your own?"With that he shook off her arm and disappeared into the forest.
"Hey." Dorra didn't want to stay alone and yet Andre's words spit in her head about how she wanted to cope on her own.
When Andre returned, Dorra was sitting on one of the two blankets and staring straight ahead. He got a guilty conscience because he hadn't taken her to the village and that just to show her how difficult it is to survive out here.
When he dropped the wood in front of her, she startled.
"Can you make a fire?" he asked more sharply than he intended.
"No."
"Cook?"
"You ate the food I prepared at your mother's. So you can answer it yourself." She got up and glared at him.
"That worked, so here. Put something out of there, I'll make a fire." he threw her a dead hare, complete with knife, and set about lighting a fire.
Dorra's stomach turned as she tried to pull the fur off the rabbit and the blood ran over her hands. She noticed how tears welled up in her, but didn't have enough strength to hold them back so that they ran silently down her face.
When Andre had lit the fire, he looked at her and his guilty conscience only grew.
"Dorra?" he asked in a soft voice.
“What?” She hissed at him and wiped her face with her blood-smeared hand to remove the tears. With this movement, she smeared the blood from their hands on her face. Andre took Dorra's hands in his and forced them to look at him.
"I'll finish that, go and wash yourself. There's a river not far from here." And a village, he added in his mind.
“No, I'll finish that.” With that snotty answer, she pulled her hands away and went back to work.
She managed to cook the rabbit on the fire and couldn't throw up. But her tears still ran silently down her, now blood-smeared face.
"You can eat."She called as she took the rabbit off the fire.
"First go wash yourself, I'll accompany you."
“No, I'll go alone, have a meal.” Dorra got up and disappeared towards the river. She washed the blood and tears from her face and hands and returned to Andre after she had collected herself.
When she looked into the clearing, Andre was sitting on the blanket, but had not yet touched the rabbit.
"Why are not you eating?"
"I've been waiting for you. Karla, let's go to the castle tomorrow." The boy said in a dear voice.
“No, I wanted to see the world and survival is part of it.” She smiled at him, so that his guilty conscience grew and sat down next to him. He gave her part of the hare.
"Thanks, Andre. Thanks for everything. Without you I would never have made it." She said softly.
"It's okay," he replied as quietly as she did.
They both ate in silence, and contemplated their thoughts. Andre's guilty conscience gnawed at Andre and Dorra wondered if her father was very worried about her."I'll dispose of the rubbish, you can still put some wood on the fire" Certain others and collected the bones while Dorra put more wood.
"Karla?"
"My name is Dorra, definitely here."
"Ok, are you sure you want this, Dorra?"
"Yes."
"We'll always sleep outside." Andre's eyes went cold as he continued, "You will also learn to hunt, like making a fire. You have to work if we come to a village to have some money." He jumped up and raised his voice, "Did you get that?"
“Yes, I have.” Dorra sat down closer to the fire, which was now the only source of light, as the moon was hidden behind the clouds.
"We should sleep, tomorrow we get up with the sun and continue walking. Here." Andre threw her a blanket and curled up.
Dorra turned restlessly. She was so cold that she gave up trying to sleep. She got up and put some wood on the almost burned fire and sat down as close to it as possible. This is how Andre saw her when he was startled from his dream. Dorra had the blanket wrapped around her and was sitting close to the fire, almost too close. When he looked closer, he noticed that she was trembling and suspected that she was stretching because her shoulders twitched particularly. Andre got up quietly and went to her. When he put his hand on her shoulder, she winced.
“Come here,” he said softly and pulled her into his arms. He was right, it widened and that's why it now pressed weakly to his chest.
He put one blanket on the floor and pulled it down to me, then spread the other blanket over it and held it tight again.
When her tears had run dry, Andre said softly: "Sleep now."
"I can't, it's so cold."
"You can do it, think about what you've already done."
"What did I manage, I cry all the time and just give you problems. Maybe you're right and we should go to the castle."
"You managed to get out of the castle, you defeated the men, you earned a roof over your head the first night, you prepared the rabbit. Now you just have to manage to sleep.""I can not do this."
"If you give up now, then a farm boy who ran around was right and you're wrong. You as a princess."
"Maybe I am too," she whispered, but couldn't help but smile.
"I told you that you can do anything. You just have to believe in it, like at the beginning of your journey." He put her on the blanket and covered her with the second blanket. "Sleep now, princess." he whispered.
“And you?” She asked weakly.
“I sat by the fire.” He smiled down at her as her eyes closed.
When she woke up, the sun was already high in the sky. She straightened up and looked around.
“Andre?” She called, but got no answer. When she got up, a sharp pain shot through her back, so that she had to sit down again. Slowly stretched and heard her back crack.
“Already awake?” She started, startled. "Andre." she sighed, "Didn't we want to get up with the sun?" she asked confused."We have time, but now hurry up."
"Yes," she headed for the river to freshen up. But turned around again and smiled at Andre, "Thanks Andre, I mean for your blanket tonight."
"You won't always get them, so get used to the hard and cold ground. I just felt sorry for you yesterday." He began to collect his things and didn't get that she winced, her eyes showed pain and could do them too not admire how quickly she regained control, lifted her head and walked towards the river.
But she didn't know that Andre was thinking of her and that he was sorry for what he had said, but her smile had scared him. He couldn't be attracted to the princess and he didn't want to build a friendly relationship either, the only thing he wanted was to put her off the world and show her how bad and dangerous she was, so that she wouldn't run away and then pocket the reward so that he could have a good life too.so that was just once.
