Chapter 2: Deadly Mission

~ Memorial stone[Konoha-Gakure]~

Since the death of his friend Obito, Kakashi has visited the memorial stone daily. It calmed him, gave him time to think. Even if it made him late for meetings or missions, he didn't care.
Usually he was alone, but on a rainy morning, to his amazement, a little girl stood in front of the stone.
"Don't you have to be in bed yet?" He asked.
She turned and he noticed the Konoha headband.
“I couldn't sleep,” replied the little one, “don't you have to be in bed too?” She spoke like an adult, she felt upset. When he stood next to her, he noticed that she didn't even reach his waist.
When he looked at her like that, nothing reminded him of a ninja. She must be too young to be a ninja at all, he thought. It was he who was already Chunin at the age of six.
"You must be Sayuri Uchia, right?"
Obito had told him about her once and he had seen her once too. She must have been four or five then. That they are exposed to a danger like the ninja life despite their illness ...
"And you're Kakashi Hatake, right? I still know you."
Without the constant conversations with other Shinobis, Kakashi would have truly forgotten who she was. Especially after Obito's death. That she recognized him then.
"You were a friend of my cousin's."
She eyed the stone thoughtfully. Not knowing what to say, he preferred to remain silent.
“You got the Sharingan from him.” Surprised, he looked down at her. he couldn't remember telling the Uchias in any way whatsoever. "I will never get it ...", she mumbled, "Because I will never be allowed into a life-threatening situation. And if I should get it, I don't know if I will survive it ..."
What Kakashi had always disgusted with was when children knew exactly about death, especially death. It was inevitable, he knew, but many of the students were unaware of the dangers of ninja life.
The rain got stronger and Kakashi couldn't tell if she was crying.
Sayuri knelt and touched the memorial stone. "My mother died when I was born because her body was too weak. I never met my father ... Always ... when I come here, I feel like you are with me - sounds crazy, right? I'm not tired when I'm here. "
Kakashi knelt down too. "I know that," he said after a moment's thought, "I have the feeling that Obito will still be there when I'm here."
"What I can't understand is why my mother's name is here. I always thought it was only the names of those who gave their lives for Konoha."
"Your mother died for someone she loved very much and that made her a heroine," he said after a long silence.
Sayuri started to smile. It wasn't a restrained smile, but an open, happy one. The last time he had seen it at Obito.
"There you are, Sayuri!" Someone said behind them. It was a boy who looked very much like Sayuri.
She got up and looked at him with a mixture of embarrassment and anger. "What do you want, Itachi?"
"Whenever you leave an hour before us in the morning, you have to expect that you will be the last one to come. Do you always meet him?"
Kakashi caught a brief, envious look before the face became a numb mask.
Sayuri went up to him. "No, I don't. But what's that to do with you?"
Kakashi has already been told that the "child prodigies of the Uchia clan" look much like some twins, but he could see one big difference: their eyes. Itachi's appeared to be made of glass, did not allow a view into him, no image of the character. While those of Sayuri looked curiously into the world, proclaimed openness. Even if Kibuni had assured him it wasn't hersCharacter properties belonged to.
"We should go. The sensei is sure to be waiting."
Kakashi had the impression that the two couldn't smell each other. Like me and Obito back then, he thought mockingly.

~ Office of the Hokagen[Kohona-Gakure]~

If the sensei had wondered anything lately, it was that Sayuri showed up on time. She came with Itachi, which surprised him even more.
They stood in front of the white-clad old man who everyone knew as Hokage. "The next missions for Team 10: helping Ms. Yamataki around the house, taking care of children or ..."
"Can't we do something more exciting, Master Hokage?" Shisui interrupted him, "It's boring just doing things like that. Even the other new genin teams have had more exciting missions behind them."
Before the Hokage could throw anything in, Sayuri said:
"I would have nothing against a more difficult mission. But let's leave it for now, otherwise we will hear an hour-long sermon again. Think about the last time."
Itachi stayed out of it as always.
The Hokage silently searched some documents until he said, "All right, if you will. A little bit outside of Konoha there is a group of farmers who urgently need help. So you will go there and help them."
"Yes!", Shisui uttered and in his cockiness he patted Sayuri a little harder on the back. sayuri gripped his hand and bent his fingers back until it hurts him.

~ Konoha-Gakure Old Prison ~

"I'll go for today then. And don't let go of that
scare the prisoner! ", one of the Shinobis said to Akara, laughing.
At night he was the last ninja as long as the transfer of the prisoners to the new prison was not completed. At the time, the old was only occupied by felons, murderers and renegade ninjas. Akara was lucky that they didn't cause any trouble while he was alone. He was about to close the big gate when he thought he had seen a pair of eyes in the shadows."Is anyone there?" He asked aloud. To make sure no one was there, he went into the shadows.
Suddenly he felt a kunai being stabbed in the back. Warm blood ran from the wound.
"Thank you for keeping the bag open for me," said a cold voice.

~ Path to the farmers' village[Feuerreich]~

"I'm really looking forward to it!", Shisui kept saying, Sayuri and Itachi didn't even notice it anymore. So he said:
"What exactly are we supposed to do in the village?"
The sensei shrugged. "We'll find out when we're there."
"Strange people," said Sayuri, strolling their way.
“Should I carry you, Say?” She nodded slightly and the sensei called her up. A short time later, all you could hear from her was her quiet, steady snoring.
Shisui noticed that Itachi looked back briefly. "If you want, I'll carry you," he said, but itachi didn't answer.
It's strange ... Shisui put his hands in his trouser pockets, slightly offended. He had tried several times to contact the two of them, but most of the time they turned him away.
Itachi raised her head, looked around searchingly. "That's someone," he said, pulling out a kunai. Shisui and the Sensei did the same.
Something jumped out of the bushes and yelled at the sensei.
Shisui couldn't see who or what it was, he only saw a black shadow that jumped towards the Sensei and how Itachi stood in his way. A clang and the shadow jumped back into the bushes.
"Are these farmers threatened by ninjas? Couldn't they have said that?" Shisui asked while he looked around.
"It doesn't threaten the village," said the sensei.
Shisui turned and looked at Hamataki as if suddenly
the world around him began to blur.
"Shisui!" Someone grabbed him and pulled him away. He noticed that his body was aching and that he had wounds on his body. "You fell for a simple genjutsu!" Itachi hissed. He too had cuts all over the place.
"What happened?"
But before Itachi could answer, he saw several shadows attacking all of them at the same time.
“Katon, Gokakyo no Jutsu!” The "shadows" that wanted to pounce on Itachi and Shisui were hit by a ball of fire and disappeared in the form of a cloud.
Sayuri stood behind them, breathing heavily in and out.
Itachi prevented an attack on Sayuri with another katon jutsu.
“Where's the sensei?” They looked around when someone appeared behind them and grabbed them.

~ A cave ~

A small fire lit the dark cave. The badly wounded Sensei lay against the wall. He was poisoned in the surprise attack and had attacks of fever.
"Will he survive?" Shisui asked quietly.
"We were lucky to have an antidote with us, although the poison with which it was poisoned is quite rare."
Because of her illness, Sayuri had a good knowledge of medicine. She wanted to become a medicin, but her body would not take part in healing with chakra.
The sensei moved violently and he as if fighting himself. Sayuri dipped a cloth in a jug of water and then placed it on the sensei's forehead as well.
He had saved her from the "shadows" by bringing her into this cave and sealing it with a jutsu. In the process, his condition has worsened.
"This is your fault", Itachi leaned against the wall, "if you had paid attention, we would not have been in this position!"
Shisui was silent, because Itachi was somehow right. If he hadn't fallen for the genjutsu, he could certainly have done something. Unlike him and Sayuri, Shisui was weak and inexperienced in combat. If a mission was delayed, it was mostly Shisui's fault.
Certainly Itachi regarded Itachi as a weakling and Sayuri felt that as unfair. Because of this, the two always got into each other's hair. Sayuri got up, she felt how her legs wanted to give way and an oppressive tiredness seized her."Do you think you're the top match here?" She burst out.
"You weren't much help either," Itachi stayed cool, but his eyes widened because he looked inside for the first time
Sayuri get angry. "I can't believe how you treat other people. Do you think you are the best there is?"
Itachi looked at her in silence until he said calmly: "If I can believe the words of the other, we are both equal - in everything. Then why do you think that you are different from me?"
Both of them had otherwise kept silent about this claim, so Sayuri was amazed that he should mention it.
"Not even twins are completely alike, then how do you think I'm just like you?"
"Stop it, you two.", Gasped the sensei, "Do you always have to fight if you
