Chapter I: Façade
"Reputation, reputation, reputation! O, I have lost my reputation! I have lost the
immortal part of myself, and what remains is bestial. "
William Shakespeare
July 23 ... 12:30 PM ... Konoha Airport ....
A young girl looked out the window of the airplane. She sighed and looked outside as if spellbound. Soon her emerald green eyes saw the mainland. She couldn't wait to get out of this flying thing. She hated flying. Nervously, she began to twist a strand of her pink hair on her fingers. An old habit of hers. She wasn't like many girls. She was a rare beauty. Everyone in her family envied her because of her pale complexion and despite everything she was incredibly shy because she was not aware of her beauty. The girl hid her pink hair under a baseball cap and wore glasses. She didn't like being around people, so she spent most of her time alone. She was the daughter of two very famous doctors and the goddaughter of another doctor who was known as the best living doctor in the whole world. Also her dream was to become a doctor one day, thus continuing the tradition. She loved helping people. She was already helping out at her parents' hospital from time to time.
Her grades spoke for her. She was very smart and equally gifted at athletics. For this reason, it was also accepted in many elite schools.
Her name was Haruno Sakura.
"Attention passengers! We will fly to Konoha airport shortly. Please fold back your tables and fasten your seat belts.", Came the voice of the flight attendant from the intercom.
Slowly, Sakura's nervousness returned. She held on tight and screwed up her eyes. Tried to calm down.
"Don't worry! Everything will be fine!"
She still held her tense position. But when she heard the dark, harmonious voice, she glanced at the person sitting next to her. She had completely forgotten that there was a boy sitting next to her. He had black hair and black eyes as well. His complexion was like hers. He must be about her age, she realized. The boy looked around at her now and smiled slightly.
"Are you afraid of flying?" He said in a polite tone that completely threw the girl off course. And so prevented her from raising her voice. So she just kept looking at him.
"Are you shy?"
Sakura lowered her head.
"H-Hai!" She replied softly.
"Sou ka!", The boy mumbled, "My name is Uchiha Sasuke. Nice to meet you."
"W-watachi ... Haruno .... Sakura."
"Hmm. You will have to speak a little louder if you want me to understand you!" Suggested Sasuke. But when he noticed the tears that were gathering in her eyes, he immediately felt guilty.
"Aa, sumanai! Did I scare you?""We landed safely!" Came another voice through the system. Sakura was startled, "Thank you very much for flying with Delta Airlines. We wish you a nice day!"
Sasuke looked around as the passengers got up and took their luggage from the designated compartments and slowly went to the exit.
"You see? Wasn't that bad, was it?" He said and buckled his seat belt. The young girl looked out of the small window in surprise. In fact, they had already landed.
She looked back at the young man before doing the same, unbuckling her seat belt and standing up. Sasuke had already brought down her pastries and handed them to the girl.
"A-Arigatou!".
She took the pastries. Beautiful obsidian eyes looked at her.
"Sakura, well!", He smiled, "A very nice name for a very nice girl, Miss Haruno", he said before he also went to the exit. She lowered her gaze. But followed him. When standing in the hall of the airport, Sakura looked shyly at Sasuke.
"A-Arigatou Uchiha-san!", She thanked him before she ran to her chauffer.
When she was out of sight, Sasuke dropped his polite facade. "No problem ... Haruno Sakura," he muttered to himself before taking the other direction.
