Day 1: ~ the taste of the sea ~
The sunset lit the streets and alleys of Twilight Town.
Humming happily, a little boy with blond hair jumped across the cobbled floor and stopped now and then by a shop to look at the goods on display.
"Good evening my dear!", The saleswoman at a candy stand smiled at the little ones: "Can I do something for you?"
"No.", the boy replied with a big grin and stood on tiptoe to practice peeping the counter. Light green, almost shining eyes darted over the colorful glasses filled with candy.
"Are you looking for something?" Asks the saleswoman again.
The blonde froze and frowned hard: "... am I doing that? Yes !!! You are right, I'm looking for something!"
The woman seemed a little surprised by the boy's strange behavior, but she didn't want to show anything.
"And what are you looking for? Maybe I can help you."
At this offer the little one fell silent. The big eyes widened for a moment as if he wanted to grasp a thought, then he exhaled in annoyance.
"Phew, I have no idea, must have forgotten it."
The saleswoman eyed the boy with concern.
"Oh!", The blonde laughing, raised his hands: "That's not bad! I keep forgetting something that has-."
He fell silent.
"What is?"
"I ... I don't know!", Mumbled the boy: "I just forgot one person I know."
"That doesn't sound very sensible.", The saleswoman nervously ran her hand over the counter. In some way the little one seemed to exude a naivete that she didn't know how to handle.
"Does it have to make sense?" His eyes flash.
"Um ...", the woman quickly leaned over the counter: "What's your name, little one?"
"Raven!"
"And, where are your parents, Raven? Are you here alone?", She wanted to know, as she looked in the square for people who might belong to the blonde. He just blinked and examined a huge bar of chocolate.
"I forgot!", He says lightly: "Strange, I can somehow remember very little ..."
The saleswoman grimaced: "My dear boy, please don't joke. You can't just go around alone like that. How old are you, eight?"
"... no, I'm already eleven!" Raven grumbled annoyed.
"Still, don't you have any relatives or friends to take care of you?"
Raven was silent: "I ... I don't know."
It was more of a kind of self-confession the boy was making.
"But I can take care of myself! You don't have to worry!", Raven claimed as soon as he realized how his answer was received by the lady. But she was now even more concerned.
"I'll help you find your parents, okay? They must be here somewhere ..."
“No!”, The boy raised his hands and took a step back: “No topic, I'll find my way around!I am a living navigation system! "
"That's really not funny!", The saleswoman continued undeterred: "You come with me now, we will find someone who is looking for you. Did you run away from home or what?"
Raven opened his mouth to say something when a voice came from behind him, "Hey, kid. I finally found you!"
"Huh!", The blonde turned around quickly and looked up at a young man with red hair.
"Don't worry, he belongs to me!", He explained and stood next to Raven: "Or?"
"Ääääh ...", Raven wasn't sure what to answer. Ultimately, he decided to just trust the redhead.
"Yes, I belong to him! We are ... n-close relatives!", He confirmed with a nod.
The woman exhaled slowly: "All right! But please take care of the boy. I have the feeling that he is not good at memorizing things."
"Hehe, that's how he is."
Raven jumped across the square, glad that he was now calm again.
Just as he was about to turn into a side street, someone grabbed his shoulder.
"Wait a minute, dwarf! I still have something good with you!"
It was the redhead from the candy stand. Raven stopped and looked up at him thoughtfully. The young man wore a black coat that reminded him of something.
"Uh, thanks?" Said Raven and shrugged.
"Always happy!", The man held out his hand: "I'm Axel, can you remember that?"
The boy shrugged his shoulders: "I can try ..."
Axel grinned and I held out a bag.
"Hey, fancy something sweet?"
Raven eyed the package furtively. His stomach was rumbling, so he happily agreed.
"Gladly, I think it's been a long time since I got something between the gills!", He said and smiled. He was still a little creepy about the guy, but Raven could live with that.
"All right! Then let's go!", Axel pushed him in the direction of a staircase that led further up to the station square. Raven couldnâ € ™ t remember being there before, maybe this morning, ... or a long time ago. In any case, he hadn't found it exciting there.
"Where are you going?" He asked casually as he slowly trotted along next to the redhead.
"I know a quiet place there!" He said: "We can talk undisturbed there."
A few minutes later the two were sitting side by side on the top of the tower that had been built at the highest point in Twiligt Town. Raven looked down at the city in silence when Axel held a blue ice cream in front of his nose.
"Here, as promised! A sea salt ice cream for the little ... what's your name?"
"Raven ... just Raven.", The blonde Axel carefully took the ice cream from: "What kind of ice is it? Sea salt?"
"Yep, sea salt!"
For a short time the boy grimaced: "Uh, but an ice cream that tastes like the sea ... well."Without further hesitation, he slipped the frozen candy into his mouth. With wide eyes Axel watched as the ice cream disappeared up to the stick, while he left his untouched.
"And?" He wanted to know with a grin.
Raven sighed: "Aaaaah! If this is a real sea salt ice cream, then I could now drink an entire ocean empty !!!!"
"You can have mine if you want."
The little one grinned: "With great pleasure!"
"So ...", Axel began when Raven had finished the second ice cream: "Can you tell me what happened earlier?"
The boy swallowed: "What?"
"You can't remember anything anymore? Why?"
When asked by the redhead, Raven could only be silent. The light of the setting sun blinded him for a few seconds, then a cloud moved across the evening sky.
"Hmmm, I don't know where to start ...."
Axel made a serious expression: "Hey, you can trust me! I just want to help you."
"Oh, that's not it!", Raven balanced a popsicle stick on his index finger: "It's more that I don't know the beginning, ... I've forgotten how it all started. My memories start today at noon, maybe today Tomorrow. But before that? "
He blew a strand of light hair from his face.
"But you still remember your name ...", stated Axel.
"I will hardly have invented it!"
Raven pulled his knees up to his body.
"And, where are you from, Raven?", Axel observed the little one intently.
He sank into thought and wandered his gaze as if he were trapped in a dream. Finally he gritted his teeth and started again.
"You ... seriously. I have no plan. Somehow everything is gone ...", Raven confessed.
"That means that the only thing you remember ... is your name.", Axel concluded: "Yeah, that's really crap ... Basically, that's the most useless thing."
Raven pressed his hand to his forehead: "N-no! Not everything. I'm on a search."
"A search? Have you lost something?"
"No, I think more like ... I got lost ..." the blonde whispered. Suddenly he felt cold.
Axel nodded silently.
"Don't know ... it's just a feeling!" Raven waved him off.
"A feeling?", Laughed the redhead: "Raven, you are sure you know that you can't feel anything anymore!"
He paused as if something had occurred to him. With an annoyed "uff" he got up.
"Hey! You can't just hiss off now!", Raven shouted: "How on earth do you get the stupid thought that I can't feel anything anymore?"
Axel smoothed his black robe: "Little one, that sounds a bit crass now ... But you don't have a heart anymore."
