The port city of Lace is quite a small, idyllic town, which is characterized by its ancient style. The cobbled streets promise a bumpy ride with the cars that roll over them every day. The no longer completely existing city wall gives a rustic, but for some also cramped impression.
In the south there is a huge stone gate with a heavy wooden wing set in iron, which belongs to the city wall. It hides the way to three stone piers and smaller warehouses. A small ferry boat is anchored at the first dock. It sways gently in the steadily rushing waves, it is the only ship on site. Several people, laughing and chatting, step out of the board from the straight plank. You will be greeted by a light salty breeze that carries the unmistakable scent of the island and the seagulls soaring. One of the people pauses in the middle of a step and breathes in and out with closed eyes, when she opens her eyes again, she sees the rough and rocky pebble beach to the left and right of the pier. But it doesn't spoil the joy, because on the other side of the city, behind lush green blooming meadows, which are decorated with the most varied and colorful flowers and a green sea of the most exotic trees, bushes and plants, there is a sandy beach. Fine light brown sand shining from the sun, the edge of the forest provides shade and the waves wash evenly, like a heart beating on the beach.
The person, it is a young girl who paused, is nudged and spoken to by a straggler who had spoken to the ferry captain. The rest of the group turns around and realizes the situation and bursts into laughter.
The young girl's face turns slightly red, she scolds loudly because the idyllic image of the island is gone for her. Of course she knows the island inside out, since it is her home, but every time she returns from an assignment, she is cast under the spell of Cranktime Island anew.
Cranktime Island is difficult to get to alive even for the most experienced seafarer as it belongs to the Chronikals archipelago and is right in the heart of them. The ferry captain is one of the most skilled seafarers in Fiore. He sails his ferry from Cranktime Island to Haregeon Harbor and back three times a day. So far, he's the only one that has never been shipwrecked.
The excited young girl is now completely enveloped in black flames that sprout up through the magic circle at her feet. Another magical circle appears around her hands and the black flames take the form of a giant bird sitting on the ground in front of her. With a snappy remark, she swings elegantly on the back of the bird, which soars straight into the air.The bird flies towards the mountain that rises in the north of the island. As the bird gets closer, the attentive eye reveals a small path that winds up around the mountain and further up the fog becomes lighter. A silhouette of an old castle rises majestically on the mountain, this castle is the guild building of Team Neko and the young girl is one of their magicians.
Saira landed with her firebird in front of the castle gate, as she cannot simply fly over it because of the magically constructed barrier. Before she walks through the gate, which is open at this time, she turns around again. She would like to enjoy the panorama of the island for a moment and to hear the sounds of the waves of the sea pounding incessantly on the rocky reefs at the end of the mountain.
With one last look she walks through the gate, which is invitingly open during the day for trade and visitor purposes. Saira walks through the empty courtyard and climbs the stairs to the castle entrance that she wants to open with a slight jerk. But as soon as she has reached it, it is opened from the inside and a young man in a suit with a bowed pose and the words "Welcome home" invites you to enter the building.
"Hello Sebastian, thank you. You don't have to accompany me inside and the others should come right away, too." Saira replied with a smile and moved through the huge-looking entrance hall towards a double door on the right.
Sebastian was in his mid-twenties and carried on the family tradition of being a butler in the castle. His family has lived in the port city for generations and no sooner had he finished his apprenticeship as a butler than he took on the job of his aging father. Besides him there were three other employees who worked in the castle. There were the twins, the girl worked as a maid and her brother helped out wherever help was needed. There was also a cook, an elderly lady, who came in the morning and prepared the food that the guild members only had to warm up. If guild members wanted to cook for themselves, she only brought fresh ingredients and then had the whole day off.
Saira entered the taproom through the double doors. On the left there were two table tables and on the right several small seating groups and at the end of the room there was a bar that stretched through the entire room. This had been installed there by guild members and was only interrupted by a small foldable passage. There was also a double door behind the bar. The bar was not only used for serving drinks, but also for separating. Behind these double doors was the room for S-rank magicians. On the left side of the room, directly on the wall, hung a thin metal plate (approx. 1.40 m from the floor) with iron chains. It was the request board, which seemed to have filled up with orders again in her absence.
Saira sat down in one of the central seating areas and waited for the maid to take her order.
Meanwhile, Lug_san was in the cellar vaults of the castle. Among other things, there was also a room in which countless wines from different vintages were stored. Several bottles and heavy oak barrels already had thick layers of dust and soaked the air with a musty smell. Cold and damp left their marks on the walls and the ceiling, where a light film of moss had formed.
In the center of the room was a large round table, which was encircled by twenty chairs. Lug_san was sitting on one of them; put your feet on the tabletop. He was bringing a bottle to his mouth and quickly drained it before throwing it carelessly into the corner. With a loud bang, the glass shattered and rained on the ground, where a large heap of broken glass had already formed.
"Another job messed up. Shit! If this continues, they'll expel me from the guild or remove my magician rank."
With a twist of his wrist, a three-headed dog made of fire appeared in the room.
"Bring another one off the shelf, Cerberus."
The animal turned around and did as he was told. Then it lay down on the ground at its master's feet.
Lug_san looked thoughtfully upwards: "Maybe I should accept Saira's offer and do the next job with her.", His eyes wandered downwards, "What do you think, Cerberus?"
Now finally the rest of the guild members who came back from the mission with Saira arrived in the castle. Nikita ran stormily towards Saira, only to throw her off the chair with a cuddle attack. "Saaiiiiiraaaaaaaaaaa ~", she began almost tearfully, ".. you can't just fly off without me. Can't you take me with you next time?" Nikita put on her half-crying, pleading face, which almost no one could resist - except for Saira, of course. When Saira sat down again and looked in silence at the wall, Nikita gave up.
Slowly she took off her heavy armor, shimmering in blue and silver, and laid it carefully on a chair in the corner. Without the armor, Nikita looked like a fragile little child. It's hard to believe that she was even able to wear this armor, let alone move about in it. She opened her long, tied up hair, which fell gently over her shoulder and seemed to have no end. With a hint of nothing, she stood and stretched for a moment. She didn't seem to mind that men were there too.
She sighed briefly. "I don't know about you, but I'm hungry.", She tried to change the subject quickly to break the silence."I'm now baking a big cake with a lot of chocolate. Who wants a piece?" Nikita looked hopefully over to Saira.
Saira was still waiting for the maid Mocchan, who was probably bustling around somewhere in the castle, when the doors of the taproom were opened and a little noisy something came rushing through the door towards them. When she fixed her gaze on it, she saw Nikita, whose chatter was pounding down on her. It wasn't that Saira didn't like her or anything, but it was just too much for her right now. The job had been a grueling job, and she'd skipped the bounty hunt she'd originally planned.
So she was a bit pissed off, but the joy of having helped the other guild members was greater and soon the missed chance of bounty hunting would be compensated for.
While Saira was following her thoughts, she had swept Nikita off the chair, which she hadn't even really noticed. Frowning, she sat down on the chair again without paying attention to anything and wondered whether to stay in the castle for the night or to look for the next job and leave again.
Nikita didn't want to give her time to find an answer to the question and got her off track by asking if she wanted chocolate cake. "Normally yes, but I didn't have any training today to compensate for that. I'll get two bottles of water and a new order now. Oh yes, please let Mocchan know that I'm not going to have dinner today." With these words she got up from the table and went towards the request board and bar. Halfway through, Saira stopped again and turned to Nikita again. "Don't worry, I'll take care of myself. Just so you don't nag, I would be too indulgent with myself. I'll throw a few food tablets and then lie down." Then she started moving again and stopped in front of the request board to examine the orders on it.
Syjana went into the dining room and watched the spectacle between Saira and Nikita. When she saw that Saira went to the request board, she said mockingly: "Saira, if you continue to take on so many tasks, there will be none left for
