Not even death is free - it costs life ...
Chapter 1: The Package
Finally the end of the day.
It was shortly after midnight when Ran Mouri turned off the lights in the restaurant and closed all the doors. Yawning, she shuffled towards the kiosk which is one street further.
Greeting the seller - like every night - she was already handed a hot coffee from him.
Thankfully she wanted to pull out her wallet after she put the mug on the counter when the old man told her - again - that this was going on.
Smiling, which didn't really want to reach her eyes, she took the mug back in her hand to warm it up.
She went home comfortably.
After about half an hour she was standing in front of her apartment.
She had already drunk the coffee - her tongue burned in the process - and only held the mug because it still gave off enough warmth.
With the key out of her jacket pocket, she unlocked the door to the first floor and ran up the stairs.
She dropped the mug carelessly in the hallway.
Will someone put it away ...
She lived on the fifth floor.
120 steps - an elevator would be a luxury after such a strenuous day - but she was not comfortable getting into this monster at such a late hour.
When she finally stood in front of her apartment, she saw a squeaky yellow note sticking to her door.
A sentence was written on it in neat handwriting: "Parcel - no matter how late or early - just ring the bell."
All right
Usually it was rather impolite to ring anyone after midnight - unless you had some criminal offense, which shouldn't mean that she would find it polite ...
Only with her neighbors did she notice that this couple was very early? - their relationship was complicated - they are probably night owls.
Not that they have parties - they just clean around this time: your hormone levels ...
So she knocked on the neighbor's door first - you didn't want to tear the whole apartment out of bed with this shrill ringing.
After some rumbling and loud swearing, the door was opened for her.
Mr. Kawasaki didn't even bother to put on clothes beforehand or at least to open the door just wide enough to hide the bare essentials ...
Ran hadn't blushed at the sight of it for a long time.
She just smiled apologetically while taking the package.
Mr. Kawasaki wished her a good night which she replied as a matter of courtesy.
All these empty phrases were so hypocritical ...
When she unlocked her apartment and put the package next to the door, she noticed that the answering machine was blinking.
She operated this and began to change.
"You have 4 new messages. First message yesterday at 5:12 am:" Good morning Mausebein!Your old father here, haha ... Well, I'll be in the Mokuri district on business on Thursday and thought I could visit you sometime. If you have time ... Please let me know? Eri misses you a lot - and yeah we're still together ... So maybe we'll see you? Bye, little one! "
"Message yesterday at 10:07 am:" Tomorrow Ran! Your father said he called you. But you know that he forgets a lot when he is drunk. And he talks a lot when the day is long! Anyway, would you agree if we come to visit you on Thursday? If you want your father can stay at home and only I will come to you. It would be nice if we could just forget everything again. Please call me back, okay? Take care, Ran! "
"Message yesterday at 4:56 pm:" ... "
"Message yesterday at 10:48 pm:" I'm sorry, okay ?! I did not want that! Call back, yell at me, no matter what! - but talk to me! - with us! I ... oh forget it! ... "
"There are no more messages for you. Um ei ..."
It was always the same ...
Yawning, she wanted to go to the bedroom when she remembered the package.
After placing it on the small table in the living room in front of the couch, she began to open it.
What she saw in it made her choke violently!
That can't be true ?!
