The bet
For once, the next few days were relatively calm. Every now and then Jelana helped the others to calm Joey, who would otherwise have been upset about Kaiba all day long, and she thought that this Kaiba really deserved a rub.
But there wasn't much to see of Kaiba. Most of the time he crumbled away immediately during the breaks. Who knew where he was? She didn't care.
The two boys who had bet with Jelana and Sayu and who later turned out to be called Kamu and Seki, showed up every now and then to see if something had occurred to Jelana.
It wasn't until Friday that she got an idea. So she was grinning in the cafeteria the day before the tournament. Apart from Sayu nobody knew what she was up to and even Joey, with whom she had had a lot to do in the last few days at school, did not reveal anything.
So after school the troop sat on the benches that were attached to the edge of the school yard and Tea, Yugi, Tristan and Joey tried desperately to guess how they wanted to get into the stadium.
Jelana admitted that she didn't think the plan would work, but it was worth a try - better than just giving up!
"You hang on to a hot air balloon and float into the stadium from above." Joey was saying enthusiastically.
Jelana laughed. "Almost. But you will see that tomorrow - we will make preparations now and if it goes as it should tomorrow, then I'll give out a round of ice cream." she promised while she grabbed Sayu by the arm and dragged her along.
Saturday had come faster than they had expected and Joey was in a state of excitement. Did Jelana really have a plan? Why hadn't she told them?
As he padded through the rows of the already overcrowded stadium, he reminded of a Chihuahua who urgently needed to go somewhere. Tristan had already thrown an empty cup on his head for this and so Yugi and Tea were forced to sit between the two of them to avoid further fights.
They were lucky and sat in the front row of the stands. This was the best place to see what was happening on the huge stage in the middle of the stadium. At the moment a duel was taking place there in which two little girls fought each other with fairies and fairy tale characters. Here and there was a "She did a great job." or an "Oh, they're cute." to listen.
Jelana and Sayu were meanwhile in front of the stadium.
"Wow, not bad! At least the good ones seem to have taste." Jelana muttered when she saw the huge dragon statues in front of the big building. She had a grin on her lips, which indicated her anticipation. She didn't know why she was so happy. The plan was so stupid that he could just piss his pants anyway and keen to see Kaiba - and then probably only because he just threw her out of the stadium - she wasn't exactly either.Sayu didn't seem too enthusiastic. She wore a floor-length white coat and had blonde hair tied back in a strict ponytail.
She also pushed a wheelchair - Jelana was sitting in it.
She wore a skirt, the color of which was strongly reminiscent of vomit, and a white blouse on which brightly colored flowers were embroidered. This included a gray short-haired wig and a little make-up.
Sayu headed for one of the entrances. It's good that they both had acting lessons before the theater group, which started next week, because it was very useful to them now. In addition, a make-up artist friend was able to help them transform Jelana into a nice old lady.
Of course, they had checked the entrances beforehand and decided on whoever the security guard was standing by, who looked the nicest.
As far as you could tell, Kaiba's guards looked nice ...
Anyway, Sayu stopped right in front of the tall man in sunglasses.
"I need your cards, please!" he said briskly.
"Tickets? But we're from the retirement home - we've been told we've been put on a guest list." said Sayu. Wow, she was really convincing.
"Guest list? I don't know anything about that! I have to inquire about that first."
Was there skepticism in his voice?
Sayu was a little nervous, Jelana noticed that she was tapping with her foot on the floor and she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
A heavy sigh came from Sayu's lips:
"But Ms. Sakamoto was so happy. Her grandson is about to have a duel and we're already so late. There aren't any more tickets, I heard."
The guard seemed to be considering. At the sight of Sayus and Jelana he suddenly became quite unsure.
"Come with me. I have to clarify this." he said and let her through the gate.
Bingo!
After following him through a few corridors, they were almost in the main hall of the stadium. They should wait there while the guy talked to someone.
Jelana hoped it wasn't Kaiba he was talking to - he would also push poor, old, defenseless grannies in a wheelchair down a hill if they didn't suit him.
After a few minutes the guard came back and stopped next to them.
"Oh, young man. I hope you could achieve something. My grandson was so happy when I offered him to come." croaked Jelana to let it work more authentically.
"Normally we don't do that, Seto Kaiba is not the type for exceptions, but the person responsible for this entrance is not there at the moment anyway. So nobody will notice."
Wow, he didn't look like that at all, but apparently he had a heart or he was just plain stupid.
If that didn't mean his resignation - poor man.
"Oh, that's nice of them. I wouldn't have thought that there would still be such nice guys in these times.Jelana yelled and she played her part really well. In fact, the guard let her hug him and even blushed slightly.
"Yikes, they have holograms. Yeah, well, in my time it was all different." she chattered cheerfully while Sayu pushed her out of sight. They made sure again that the guard was gone. It actually worked. It had to be really hollow.
Jelana and Sayu looked at each other and had a terrible fit of laughter.
"Let yourself be pushed ... in my times ..." Jelana mimicked herself. She pulled the wig off her head and got out of the wheelchair they'd borrowed from the hospital. It was a good thing that Sayu's mother was a nurse and also up for fun.
Jelana continued to laugh when Sayu suddenly turned pale and pointed to something. Still grinning broadly, Jelana turned around and was shocked to see what her friend had discovered earlier: the screen.
In the breaks between the duels, a camera panned through the interior of the stadium and filmed the audience. Actually, this was supposed to be used to ask the audience how they felt here and what could be improved, for this reason a microphone was also installed - the latest technology. Wasn't to be expected otherwise from Kaiba.
The two girls, who were now huge on the screen, only noticed this when Jelana gave a startled "horn".
"Do something!" Sayu whispered to her friend. She was so terribly embarrassed.
"Um. Yeah, I'm certainly right in assuming that Kaiba's bodyguards or the boss himself will kick us out of here with a kick in the ass, BUT we're in the stadium - so we won the bet. Wherever you are two idiots - have fun in the hallway service. " Jelana chattered cheerfully. Since she later wanted to become a journalist, she had to be able to do that. It worked pretty well.
Most of the people in the stadium laughed - after all, most of their new school was there and so knew about the bet. Yeah, worse than in a village. Something like that got around in school.
Jelana was amazed - still nobody showed up to throw her out, so she pulled Sayu by the hand in the direction in which she had just spotted Joey and the others. She just left the wheelchair on the edge - it wouldn't bother anyone.
Meanwhile, a voice rang out on the stage.
/ Oh, that's why he's not coming in person and killing us. / thought Jelana when she saw Kaiba with a microphone.
They sat on the floor in front of their new friends, who were delighted. Joey fiddled with Jelena's face.
"Woah. Crazy, you really look like a grandma." he exclaimed enthusiastically.
Sayu giggled. "Well, you just have to know the right people."Jelana, on the other hand, paid no attention to the fingers on her chin and the conversation between her friends. She wanted to know what Kaiba would say.
"Nice introduction ..." he began. Wow. He was full of sarcasm.
"How good that you don't bother our spectators any further and wherever you have disappeared: You can be happy that I won't let the police pick you up! In any case, I wish everyone else a lot of fun with the rest of the tournament. " he said in his usual cool tone and left the stage.
Wishing people fun? Somehow Jelana didn't believe him. Did he even know what fun was? The muscles of his face seemed quite rusty.
Jelana had been staring at the screen the whole time. To see his face on such a big screen was impressive. Oh, what was she thinking ?! A couple of blue eyes on a big screen and she was paying attention to that bloated fool again.
She grabbed her chin, which no one was fiddling with anymore, and wiped the make-up off her face with her sleeve.
"Tell me Joey - didn't you and Yugi want to duel too?" Jelana just asked.
There was silence. What happened again now?
When she turned around, she saw that the two were no longer there.
"They just said their goodbyes and are sitting there in front - weren't you listening?" Tea asked, more amused than anything.
What? Had she listened to this prodigy so spellbound? This is not possible.
Puffing, she just sat down in Joey's seat. She would now give him and Yugi's little friendship duel all her attention and not give away a single thought of this Kaiba snob!
Well, in itself a good idea - just not that easy to implement.
The two were in the middle of a duel and it wasn't looking very good for Joey when suddenly a colossus of a man appeared in front of Jelana. She was about to put him down. Why did he pretend to be so stupid? She wanted to see the duel.
But her breath caught when she saw who
