You are born as the first and last child to your parents. In the small settlement with only a few residents and where one knows the other, you are eagerly awaited. People crowd around you and admire the child born by the woman who always protected the small village near the big city from the guards of the nobles and the king. Your childhood was relatively happy. Your parents and actually everyone in the city are always good-natured to you.
When you are just four years old, your father leaves you and sails out to sea. Since then, your mother has been feeling kind of downcast and extremely irritable when you speak to him. Although you often ask her where he went, why he left you, and if he'll ever return, she never answers you in full sentences and distances herself from everyone. The people in the settlement no longer greet you either and only look at you absurdly while they talk to others about you. Even the children in the village despise you and always leave you alone.
You don't understand all of this until you are 13, when your mother finally comes out with the truth. Your father met a notorious captain of a gang of pirates in town, and he joined his crew without thinking too much. He said at the time that he would follow him until he was pirate king and then come home heaped with treasures in order to be able to offer you a better life. In the settlement, of course, this did not remain a secret for long and from now on you looked down on you from above, since you were the family of the pirate who was held responsible for the fact that the guards of the higher-ranking people in the country now came by more often and wanted to destroy the suburb with the poor, unworthy people.
Despite all the dislike of the villagers, your mother always defended the area at the risk of her life. Often busy with it, she couldn't keep the gun shop in town any longer and you decided to take care of it when you were 14.
In addition, you often wandered around the dark alleys of the city, where the numerous black markets were. There you also took on some odd jobs, such as gathering and delivering information, robbing property, and exploiting certain people. With these jobs, as you called them, you were able to earn additional money and you also learned how to hide well and ambush someone. Not only were you skilled, but you had a real talent for flexibility and quickly disappearing unnoticed after surprising attacks. Rumors of a thief made the rounds in the city as well as in your settlement, but you were never recognized.
One day you received a very special and important task from a man shrouded in darkness. He had heard of your skills and your success rate and shared some highly classified information with you, in addition to handing you a map with directions. He prepaid you 20 million berries and you should receive an additional 30 million berries from the person to whom you are supposed to deliver the information. Of course, you immediately agreed, said goodbye to your mother and went out to sea.
