Das Versprechen auf Glück

chapter two

The secret of happiness is not in possession, but in giving. Who makes others happy, is happy.
Andre Gide

In the afternoon it was full house again at the En inn.
Faust and Eliza stayed here after the shaman fight, and so did Tamao. Ren lived with Run in Tokyo to finish school. Since Chocolove could work anywhere in his comedian career, he settled in town and looked for a job. Lyserg wanted to finish his school here too. And HoroHoro and Pilika had come to town with Ryu over the weekend from the coltsfoot fields.
But Anna had found a job for everyone that they should do so that nobody could get bored. The Itako sat with the other girls in front of the TV while everyone worked nicely to polish the house to a shine.
By the time Ryu and Manta were supposed to prepare dinner, the news that Anna and Yoh were no longer engaged had already spread among the boys.
Anna hadn't said anything to Run, Pilika and Tamao, however, and she hadn't spoken to anyone all day, except to distribute the tasks.
After eating, she got up with the words: "HoroHoro and Lyserg will take care of the dishes. The rest will go out to train."
"But I'm not a shaman." Manta threw in and immediately regretted opening her mouth again.
"Oh yeah right. Then you will clean the toilets again. With so many people this is necessary." Then she looked at the headphone. "Yoh you don't. I want to talk to you for a moment."
The boys watched the two of them in dismay until they turned the corner.
Run cocked her head and looked at one expression after the other. "What's the matter with you guys?"
Pilika and Tamao became aware of Run's question.
"Do you think you want her back now?" asked HoroHoro around.
Ryu shook his head. "Anna would never ask for anything like that."
"Besides, Manta said that Yoh should have said it was amicable." Ren agreed.
"Why else would she want to talk to Yoh?" asked Lyserg.
"What are you talking about?" Run asked again.
Chocolove then looked at the green haired woman and the other two girls. "You don't know that?"
Pilika looked at the boys in confusion. "What should we not know?"
"Yoh and Anna should have split up." explained Ren.
HoroHoro nodded in agreement. "The two broke off the engagement."
"What?" it came from Run and Pilika at the same time.
Tamao just looked around in shock.
"At least that's what Manta said." Faust also interfered.
"They should have separated by mutual agreement." Lyserg nodded.
"That's what Yoh and Anna told me at school today."
Tamao flushed and began to smile slightly.
"Then why does Anna want to talk to Yoh?" HoroHoro brought her back to his first question.
"It wears you out not knowing what?" said Ren to him.
"Not you?" replied the Ainu.
"But we won't find out before Yoh and Anna tell us nothing." Lyserg shook his head slightly."Unless you intend to violate their privacy and eavesdrop."
Instantly it was very quiet in the dining room. Everyone gave each other a look.
"Anna wanted me to wash up and I should do that now." HoroHoro grinned and scratched the back of his head as he left the room.
Ren jumped up immediately. "Because of washing up! He didn't take a plate with him!"
One by one then left the dining room until only Run, Faust and Lyserg were present.
At the same time the three sighed and hung their heads.
There was a lot of crowd in front of Yoh's room in which the two were sitting, but neither of them made a noise. However, gesticulations were made and non-verbal commands were given, which nobody obeyed. The door of Yoh's room was pushed open a crack and everyone's heads were lined up so that they could see something and, above all, hear something.
"Are you really serious?" Yoh asked her then.
Anna nodded. "Yeah, what do you think about that?"
"I'm not sure." confessed to her the asakura. "But if you want to do it, it'll be fine."
"Don't you have any objection to it?"
Yoh shook his head. "I guess not. I can't imagine anything going to happen to you."
"Before our conversation yesterday, I didn't think about it at all and always ignored everything." Anna confessed to him. "But today I couldn't think of anything else all the time."
"Then it will be the right one." she grinned at her.
"I still wanted to talk to you about whether you object to it."
Yoh's amused chuckle filled the room. "It's okay with me. Don't worry about it. If it makes you happy, so am I."
"Thanks Yoh." said Anna and hugged him.
Confused and puzzled looks were fooled at the door. They didn't even know Anna like that, what had got into the blonde?
The asakura happily returned the hug and asked when they parted again. "When do you want to go?"
"Tomorrow morning. The sooner I go, the faster I'll be back."
"Oh so do you want ...?" Yoh left the sentence unfinished.
Anna understood him that way too. "Yes, or do you mind?"
"No, I don't mind. It just surprised me. But the Gasthaus En is your home as well as mine. All my friends are always welcome here."
Again she thanked Yoh before getting up.
When the others saw it at the door, they rolled over while trying to get out of here as quickly as possible so as not to be discovered.
The boy with the headphones got up and walked with her to the door. Before he could open it, Anna held it back for a moment.
"Please don't tell the others until after I've been on my way."
Grinning, he nodded. "No problem."
While Yoh went into the garden to train, Anna went to her room to perform a ritual.

The next morning Anna had packed her seven things that she needed on her trip and was on her way.Of course everyone had come to see her off, even if no one knew where the Itako was actually going. Nobody except Yoh, who had kept Dicht as promised and had not given anything away. Even if one after the other had approached him in the evening to find out in a clumsy or very subtle way. The Asakura had talked to everyone in a friendly way but gave absolutely nothing away, just as Anna wanted.
Fortunately, her journey does not take her too far. But near the city of Fujisawa, from which your destination was not far away, a forest with the name, Aokigahara.
However, she wasn't exactly happy to have to go there, the forest was very dense and so monotonous that you could get lost quickly and easily. This forest was full of all sorts of ghosts that eked out their afterlife there. Aokigahara was considered the Forest of the Dead as it was a popular destination for suicides. Which in turn meant that there were masses of angry and aggressive ghosts just waiting to attack the living. So for inexperienced shamans a dangerous patch that one should better avoid.
Yoh she only told her that her ritual had shown her the way to Fujisawa, otherwise the Asakura would have worried unnecessarily and would not have let her go alone.
Anna wasn't worried, however, her two Shikigamis, Zenki and Goki weren't just any demons but very strong ones who were able to defend them from all dangers that lurked in this forest.
Well at least against almost everyone. Zenki and Goki could do absolutely nothing against a possible source of danger. But even Yoh would not have been able to do that if he had accompanied her.

When it was already dawn, Anna reached the forest, which even at the beginning did not allow any looks. The Itako was by no means irritated, let alone intimidated. She knew exactly why she was here and would not leave until she had reached her destination.
It was only when the last ray of sunshine could no longer reach the thick bushes that Anna decided to set up camp for the night. To wander through the forest at night would not do her anything, except that she wasted the energy she needed the next day unnecessarily. Especially since their goal would not be somewhere at the entrance of the forest but deep in it. Hidden and isolated from everything.
When she lit the fire that was supposed to give her warmth next to the sleeping bag in the cold night, the first ghost found her. Since the Itako paid no attention to the maybe twenty year old girl Geist, the black-haired girl assumed Anna would not be able to see her.
The ghost was just about to let her pouch fly around a little when Anna's cold, cutting voice rang out.
"If you touch my things I will banish you to the realm of the dead."
Surprised and also a little shocked that she was noticed, the black haired woman paused. "You can see me?"
"If you annoy me, soon nobody will be able to see you anymore.""Oh, you seem to be an evil shaman." she mocked and hovered in front of the blonde.
"I'm an Itako so I advise you to be careful with what you say."
"Interesting." let out the ghost. "What are you looking for here? Do you want to hang yourself up here too and just look for a nice tree for it? If so, I can tell you right away, one tree is the same as the other. You will dangle the same for everyone."
"Didn't I already say that if you annoy me, do I ban you?"
The girl pulled out a pouting mouth. "Don't be so dismissive now. Shamans rarely get lost here with whom you can also talk. My apologies are okay? But please don't be so angry with me anymore."
Anna sighed annoyed.
"I see that as a yes." she beamed at Anna. "So my name is Tomoko. What's yours?"
"Anna" she replied monotonously. "Did you kill yourself here too?"
"Oh no, where do you think he's going?" immediately repulsed them. "I would never have killed myself."
"But you died here."
"The Yes." Tomoko nodded. "My fiancé brought me here and then let me dangle nicely. Because the idiot fell in love with someone else."
"Gone stupid."
"Who are you telling this." she sighed and then laughed. "Got stupid life mhh?"
"Then why are you still here and have not already passed into the realm of the dead?"
"At first because I wanted to get revenge on my fiancé, of course. But then ... as a ghost ... I got to know a freedom that I was never allowed to get to know as a living person.
