Theresa Waldeck rose from her stiff leather seat on the rear wheel arch of the tractor. She climbed down onto the sidewalk using steps on the front right-hand side of the farm machine.
Her mother, she was sitting in the driver's seat, turned to her and looked at her. Her eyes, shining emerald-like in the sunlight and rimmed by slightly aged lids, looked a little tired from their sagging skin. But this was wrong. Mrs. Waldeck watched her daughter very carefully and Resi felt her gaze rest on her shoulders. That made her uncomfortable and nervous.
Ms. Waldeck had put on a relaxed smile to match that, it looked very friendly and invitingly warm on her.
Although it was certainly intended for her, Resi paid no attention to it. Ever since she dismounted, her eyes had been fixed on the big black rear tire of the tractor. Her gaze stayed there for the first few seconds. Only gradually did he sink, his head tilting forward at the same time.
