Changing Skies

and saw Kagome, her expression brightened and the Miko recognized relief. And yet they were far from safe. Kagome took Rin's cold and wet hand, pulled her close, and closed her arms tightly around her. "Where's Sesshoumaru?", Hoping that this something is distracted even longer, she looked for the child's gaze, who was fighting against tears. "He ... he ... said I should run away! There were so many there! I just followed Kohaku and then everything went so fast ...", the otherwise optimistic and cheerful girl trembled all over and you could immediately see how exhausted she was. Kagome had to get her out of here. If she believed the story, then Sesshoumaru had to be very close and if Kohaku was here…. The Miko's body tensed and she took a deep breath. Naraku! If she didn't know better she would say this monster was his doing.

"Come on, I'll take you away from here first!", She slowly detached herself from the little one and just grabbed her hand. Kagome quickly got an overview of the situation. While she was running to Rin, Inuyasha Tessaiga had also pulled and, to her surprise, was fighting the oversized youkai with Jakotsu. Sango and Miroku weren't in sight, but she guessed they would try to do something from another position. A slight tug on her hand reminded her of her task and she smiled reassuringly at Rin.Slowly the miko began to move with the girl by the hand. Under no circumstances did she want to draw attention to herself. Only when they got a few meters in the still undamaged part of the forest did she start to run faster. But she quickly noticed that Rin had hardly any energy left and could only stay on her feet with great difficulty. Without further ado, Kagome lifted the girl in her arms and walked on with her. "Where did you say you broke up with Sesshoumaru?", Rin pointed to the east and fought against the sniffing. Fear constricted the little one's throat and tiredness took its toll. The two girls kept walking until Kagome stopped abruptly and looked at the scene in shock. Carefully she lowered Rin from her arms. "Sit down here okay? I'll be right back!" The addressed just nodded and sank tiredly to the floor.

This monster had left a trail of devastation and when she recognized the dark stains that were scattered everywhere in large pools as blood, she had the feeling to vomit for a moment. A dull moan distracted her, however, and she tore her gaze away, looking for the source of the noise.

And then she saw him. Sesshoumaru! His otherwise bright white fur soaked in deep red, next to him Tokejin broken in half. The only thing that hadn't changed was his ice-cold look, with which he seemed to pierce her. "I found Rin ..." he still looked at her without even blinking. At first Kagome thought that he wouldn't say anything, but then: "You shouldn't see me like that ..."
His scratchy, almost weak voice startled her so much that she couldn't move for a moment. She had to pull herself together. Carefully she took a step closer to the Daiyoukai. "Let ... let me help you!", She was unsure whether it was really smart to get any closer to Sesshoumaru. Injured dogs were even more prone to biting. Since he said nothing against her suggestion, but simply stared at her again, she dared and slowly sat down next to the demon. She quickly realized the extent of his injuries and that was nothing positive. A deep wound cut across his chest and gaped wide open. The persistent rain didn't really stop the bleeding. Kagome feared that if the Daiyoukai straightened up or even leaned forward, his insides would just fall out of him and this was just one of many injuries. It is more than just a miracle that he was still alive, but that once again showed how incredibly powerful he was.

Sesshoumaru calmly looks at the face of the Miko, who was now sitting right next to him. It would be easy to take her life now, but he doubted that he would benefit from it or enjoy it. A growl left his throat as she reached out her hand to him and she jerked back, startled, staring at him with big brown eyes. Should he really be forced to let someone help him?Again? This thought made him angry and he tried to sit up, but a hoarse "Oh God" on the part of the Miko prevented him and the fact that she just dared to push him down again. Just when he wanted to advise her to take her fingers from him, she pulled them back and looked around. Another painful moan had caught her attention. So she only noticed now that he wasn't the only one injured here.

Kagome frowned. Was she just imagining it or was there someone else? Slowly she straightened up and whispered to Sesshoumaru: "I'll be right back!", Even if she doubted that this information would interest him. She cautiously crept around a few trees, looking for another survivor. But the first thing she saw were splintered pieces of metal and soon after the supposed remains of Ginkotsu and only a few meters away from him she recognized another of the Shichinintai. Renkotsu lay lifeless on the ground and Kagome could not see the splinter of jewels anywhere, just like Genkotsu before. They had been her enemies and yet she felt sorry for them. It was horrible to see them like that and the Miko doubted they'd even had a chance. Again she heard the painful groan, followed by suppressed swearing. So Kagome gathered all of her remaining courage, single-mindedly ran ahead and soon stood just a few meters from Bankotsu, who trembled and tried to pull himself to his feet on his Banryu. He was also overlooked by numerous wounds, which bleeding even more the more he tried.

Without thinking, Kagome overcame the last few yards as Bankotsu lost his balance, as well as his remaining strength, and sank to the ground. She quickly wrapped her arms around him and saved him from a hard impact. She knew how dangerous he was, that was Sesshoumaru too, but he was hurt and she just couldn't look away. She didn't want it either, she would hate herself if she hadn't at least tried to help them. Bankotsu looked at her in surprise, with a transfigured look. The Miko almost doubted that he even recognized who was helping him. "What ... was your name girl again?" Bankotsu's voice was rough and he struggled to sound strong. "I don't think that's important now ... I saw Jakotsu earlier ... he seemed to be fine under the circumstances." She didn't know if the leader of the Shichinintai understood what she was saying, but she was sure he wanted to know how his team members were doing. She gently leaned his back against a tree and brushed her rain-soaked hair fidgetably from her face. She was terribly warm, despite the cold rain and wind. What should she do now? She couldn't go back, Rin was still here and all alone and furthermore Sesshoumaru and Bankotsu would die without help. For a moment the miko closed her eyes, slowly inhaled and exhaled. The decision was made. "RIN!", She would need the little girl's help, even if she was completely exhausted, she had to find shelter where she could take care of the wounds of her enemies.
